I'll start (of course)
Taco! (--because I left her with my old fiance one time and he left his taco bell out on the table when he went into the kitchen; came back 2 min. later and it was ALL gone)

4. Munchkin-head
Officially, her name is Audrey, but my boyfriend started calling her munchkin-head a few years ago and it stuck (she put on some weight and became rather round).

She really only answers when you call her Cat-Cat - and only if you are shaking the treats.

45. Another idea: google
Maine coon breeders" plus your state. many times breeders will offer adult Maine Coons for adoption. Sometimes they are retired show cats, sometimes they are cats that came back to them after the owners could no longer care for them (death, illness, moving to London, etc.). some breeders do rescue without advertising, so if there is one located in your town it's worth asking them if they have any cats available, or if they think they will soon.

19.  I have a friend with a cat named Dog, and
See-ay-tee (C-A-T) is a fave. (Dee-oh-Gee is good too, for a dog)

Tinker was my aunt's childhood attack cat

My mom has Ralph, Lauren, and BB; I had one named Polo in hs. don't ask.

Aunt's current cat is Irie.

My cousins mentally challenged (seriously) cats' name is Weeble, yes, after Weeble-Wobbles. Cause he does, but he falls down too.

a friend in college had an all white cat they named Honkey.

20. The sound made by puckering my lips,
putting my tongue aginst the hole and sucking in air. Kind of like the squeaky sound made by a balloon when you pull the opening tight as the air escapes... or when you lay a big smooch on someone... it's pretty much un-spellable. Anyway, that sound was his name. When I took him to the vet I wrote down his name as Gremlin. That was my landlady's name for him.

29. Richard Nixon, Harry Truman, Daddy, and Skittles!
Richard & Harry are litter mates, so named because at the time I got them, Nixon died, and I was reading Truman by David McCullough....

Daddy because we figure he MUST be the daddy to two of our kits, born to a feral cat in our basement on 9/11/01. He was a stray and we took him in about a year later.

Skittles is so named, of course, because she KICKED MY ASS! See http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=105&topic_id=2055275

Edited on Mon May-02-05 09:16 AM by AlGore-08.com
Occasionally people assume her name is actually "Buddha Cat" and they just heard it wrong.

Other cats I've had in the past:
Balzac
Spode (because of the P.G. Wodehouse description of Sir Roderick Spode as "something Nature began as a gorilla but changed its mind halfway through")
Stupid (whose real name was Cindy, but "Stupid Cat" was the only thing she answered to)

49. Bacon, Cookie, Angel, Catta, Snowball
Catta was the mother cat
angel and snowball were her kittens--pure white
bacon and cookie were also her kittens and reminded me of...guess.

i was about eight years old when i named them.

we found out i was alergic and my mom took them to the humane society. i stuck my head into the cage, crying and saying good-bye. i promised them i'd come back for them. of course, i couldn't and didn't. i never forgot it though. and i've never broken a promise since then.

it was a horrible experience.

52. Something
one warm spring night I heard a cat crying outside. Thought it was our "old lady" cat. It sounded like a cry for help -- so I went outside and looked around

I heard the cry again and realized it wasn't the "old lady" cat - but rather a kitten cry. I located the cry from under a forsythia bush - bending down I spied two eyes looking back at me -- "who are you?" I asked

next thing I know this kitten is crawling up my leg. I brought her into the house and asked my (then) partner if she knew who it belonged to? Didn't know.

Kitten had a collar on so she belonged to someone. We called the neighbors - they didn't know anything about it. We put an ad in the paper -- no response.

so a couple of days after finding her - I asked my partner what we should name her -- I was told in no uncertain terms that I couldn't name her ANYTHING because then the kitten would stay.

since I couldn't name her ANYTHING I named her SOMETHING - it started out as a joke, but the name stuck as did the cat.

She was 8 yrs old...and is still missed 1995-2003

53. Our three are...
Acme - tortoiseshell Persian
Zerox (the Copy Cat) - solid black shorthair
Shadow - tuxedo shorthair

While we are responsible for Shadow's name (named because he became Zerox's shadow), we did not name the other two. We took in Acme and Zerox when a friend of ours had to move to an apartment and couldn't keep these guys. She leans towards silly names for her pets and chose these names so she could have cats from A to Z...
