1. Martin Short is hilarious, but...
That Glick character is just anti-funny. Not just un-funny, it actually absorbs the funny energy from things around it that ARE funny.

6. OMG, the freaky psychic-cum-murderer he played on L&O SVU!
Damn, if he doesn't get an Emmy nomination for that, I'll be pissed. He was fantastic. Made my skin crawl!

Other than that, Ed Grimley, I must say....

21. "Jackie Rodgers Wad O' Cash". Him and Guest together.
Guest holding his own with Martin as am obvuoisly gay foreign contestant. It's up there with the water wings sketch.

11. Katharine Hepburn
That SNL sketch (Kate and Ali) in which he imitated Kate living with Muhammed Ali was pretty hilarious. Not many people could imitate her, especially in older age with the parkinson's and all. He pulled it off well.

13. Ned Nedelander in "The Three Amigos"
Edited on Mon May-02-05 09:10 AM by CO Liberal

(Dusty Bottoms and Lucky Day thinks Ned Nederlander is saying "mail" plane)

Dusty Bottoms: What is it doing here?

Ned Niederlander: I think it's a male plane.

Dusty Bottoms: How can you tell?

Ned Niederlander: Didn't you notice its little balls?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ned Niederlander: You shot the invisible swordsman!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ned Niederlander: This is not a town of weaklings! You can use your strengths against El Guapo. Now, what is it that this town really does well?

Townspeople: Hmmm. Hmmm? Ummm.

(long pause)

Mama Sanchez: We can sew!

Dusty Bottoms: There you go, you can sew.

Ned Niederlander: Ah.

Dusty Bottoms: If only we had known this sooner.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ned Niederlander: Sew, old woman, sew! Like the wind!

14. He and Harold Ramis did a hysterical skit for Comic Relief
Waaaaaaay back during the SmirkDaddy administration - - you know, during the Great Recession, when so many folks were out of work - - Ramis was interviewing the two final candidates for a corporate management job: Ed Grimley and a woman.

As the interview wore on, it was so obvious that Grimley was totally unqualified for the job and she was over qualified, that Grimley knew it (she'd talk about her multiple business degrees from Ivy League universities and he'd very weakly try and explain that he'd been meaning to apply for his GED... ) The sketch ended with Ramis announcing that there was obviously only one qualified candidate, who he felt confident enough to hire on the spot - - Congratulations, Mr. Grimley, you've got the job.

The woman then blew up at Ramis, ranting about Grimley's obvious unsuitability and her qualifications, and finally demanding "You gave him the job just because I'm a woman, didn't you??!!" Ramis replied calmly "Of course.", and then he and Martin Short left together, doing the Ed Grimley spastic skip off stage.

18. Too hard. He is an underappreciated comedian. "Milton Therm"
"Milton Therm" was one of the many characters he did. For a bit this guy was the lawyer/mouthpiece for whatever unsavory person/corporation that was being sued and reported on SNL news.

Hysterically funny, a shaky, utter scumbag that was just priceless.

I love them all, but having to pick...Ed, followed by Glick...then Milton Therm.

Forgot about the "water wing" guy. That skit had me in convulsions.

"I'm not nervous. What do I have to be nervous about?" (looks at camera lip quivers)
Yes that was a great character, right down to the sweating and the cigarette ash.
