Mine: Microwave popcorn. I'd rather stand in the middle of a pile of burning tires. Blech.

Also, the smell of cooked shrimp and crabs really grosses me out, but that's probably instinctive because I'm allergic to shellfish.

50. I know what it means, I'm phantosmic
I smell stuff that isn't there. Of course it can't be roses or something good. What I was smelling was stuff like swamp water and rancide lip balm. My neurologist put me on anti-seizure medication and that has worked so far. Fingers crossed. It was really becoming unbearable.

Plus, they're nothing but pure pollution.

22. Freshly mowed grass
I don't understand why cut grass is supposed to smell so good. It just doesn't. I live in the 'burbs so I wake up every Sat. and Sun. to that retched smell.

I also dislike the smell of microwave popcorn, pine trees (or gin because they smell the same to me), and many cooked meats (esp. bacon).

48. Me too! Yuck!
Every freakin Sunday morning my landlord's daugher mows the grass. Stinks my apt for the rest of the day.

Don't know what's worse the smell, being woke up at 11am by a big ass lawnmower, or hearing my landlord scream at her wild as hell grandkids while her daughter is mowing the lawn.

The only other smell I detest is coffee. Blech.

25. Most perfumes
They make me sick. And when I lived in Florida, there was a smell created by the spores that pop up everywhere, sorta sickenly lime like, that made me sick. The worst, though, is the smell of a rotting corpse.

When I was in college in NH, there was a speed freak that I knew who used to NEVER sleep. One day, Lenny was knocking on my door at 7 a.m. saying, WAKE UP YOU GOTTA SEE THIS.

So humoring him we got up and followed him. There was an abandoned AF radar station right near campus. So we walk in and as we get close to the bunkers and stuff, there is the overwhelming smell of rotting meat. We look around for a dead deer or something and find a pipe pumping out the smell.

So we walk further in and find a bunch of bunkers and old abandoned rusting radar dishes. Except when we go down into a bunker, we find a cup of coffee. Still hot. With the torn sugar containers next to it.

So now I am creeped out. Someone is watching us for sure. We go from bunker to bunker and there are small signs of life everywhere. A fresh cig butt, a fresh plastic bag, and so on. So we walk around saying come out come out wherever you are, and nothing happens. Then we found a camera buried in the earth, scanning. I have a feeling there was a deeper bunker, but we couldn't find the entrance.

So we went back to the UNH library to research that plot of land. It was supposedly sold to a private firm after WWII. But the firm didn't exist. So we go back the next day and suddenly there is a HUGE wire fence already built.

It still cracks me up. Probably a CIA thing or something. When we went back to search the records again, they were gone.

That has little to do with smells, except if you have ever smelled a decomposed corpse, you understand why most people would have turned around and left.

27. **(@^&*($%# Fabric Softener
What the f---?!

Nothing but pollution, to begin with - and completely and utterly uneccessary pollution at that.

But it all smells awful!! Bounce, Downy, whatever. Super perfumed earth-destroying unnecessary shit.

When I lived in Harlem, some of the Dominican women would put two, three, four Bounce sheets into the dryer! I could often smell the fabric softener on the people ON THE SUBWAY!

But even outside that ridiculous overdoing it, I hate the smell of the shit, and I hate the fact that selfish people are destroying my planet by using it.

I can't even stand to eat nuked popcorn anymore. I also hate the smell of any perfume or cologne. There's one guy at work who I keep away from cuz he must bath in cologne. I can walk down a hallway and know where he stood several minutes earlier.
And cilantro. It is the foulest smelling herb I know of.

I don't feel the pins but I do have a sense of mortal danger when I smell it. I once grabbed a bunch, thinking it was basil, and snorted it up close. Pfeh! I love the smell of basil. It, conversely, smells rejuvenating somehow.

Smell, taste, texture. Everything about it:Milk, shredded, whole.

Must be past life desert island thing. Also don't like the tropics very much. It's too humid. The sun is too hot. The wind blows. The sand is too sticky. Only I have found paradise and it made me cranky.

Coconut scented suntan lotion:ugh.

Pina coladas. No no no

All my life as a kid...birthday cake topped with shredded coconut! (they didn't know..it was a surprise!) Risking the box of chocolates and it's got white inside.

A life ruined by one heavy furry fruit.

43. Fried Eggs and Bacon
Honest to God, up until my dad passed away, if we didn't go out to eat, my mom used to cook bacon and eggs for breakfast almost every morning AND for dinner about 4-5 nights a week. Nowadays, I almost never eat breakfast (I'll eat cereal as a late night snack though), and I ask if the lunch menu is available if I'm forced to go out to a restaurant for breakfast.
