Canada is really, really, really friggin' huge...
Vancouver to (New England). Seven days of driving across Canada and I didn't even get east of Ottawa. If I ever again hear Texans brag about how big their state is, I'm just going to give them a smug look and respond: "That's nice, but try driving across Ontario and then get back to me..."

P.S. Would it kill the Province of Ontario to put a few rest stops between Kenora and Thunder Bay???? Sheesh... :eyes:

1. Rest stops? Didn't you see those trees by the side of the road?
:)

2. You know those snowplow turnouts?
I had to scamper into the woods a few times, in several inches of snow (apparently spring doesn't arrive until mid may east of the Rockies...)

3. There's NOTHING between Kenora and Thunder Bay.
It's like the Nullarbor Highway in Australia, except it's in a forest instead of a desert.

7. How could I have had fun in Dryden?
I noticed a big-ass paper mill and a dam across the river, and not much else. Plus it was snowing and I wanted to make TB as fast as possible. Kenora was nice, though...

9. Dryden ain't worth anything.
Hell, basically the only thing between Winnipeg and Thunder Bay of any significance is Kenora. After that, fill your tank to the top.

6. Yeah, that stretch was tough...
...as was Thunder Bay to Sault Ste. Marie. I asked if there was a fast ferry across Lake Superior from Thunder Bay to Sault Ste. Marie and they just laughed at me... :-(

What's up with all the inukshuks between ~Kenora and North Bay? There's like thousands of them on the rocky ledges along the roadsides.
