What songs make you want to pull your hair out?
"The Impossible Dream" and "My Way" are like fingernails on a chalkboard to me. I also hate "Afternoon Delight" and "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" (bad memories of going to the dentist as a child; it was on constantly in his office).

2. Ah yes - you have songs associated with childhood dental memories.
For me, the "dental" songs would be Stephen Bishop's "On and On" and Bread's "If."

The song that most makes me want to pull my hair out is "What I Am" by Edie Brickell.

10. Oh, yes.
For some reason, that was a really popular song when I was in highschool and college, even though we were probably all in diapers when that song came out. It seemed like everyone just loved that song. Hate it, hate it, hate it.

6. Stairway to Heaven
Overplayed, overrated, just over.

Except for the version by Rolf Harris (of "Tie Me Kangaroo Down").

7. That new Avril single, "Nobody's Home"
Edited on Mon May-02-05 10:25 PM by tuvor
Her FEE-lings she hides.
Her DREAMS she can't find.
She's LO-sing her mind.
She's FAL-len behind.
She CAN'T find her place.
She's LO-sing her faith.
She's FAL-len from grace.
She's all OH-ver the place.

I like making up new lyrics for this dreck. (THIS, I can believe she wrote all by herself.)

I'm a Barbie girl, in a Barbie world....
With the greatness of XM, I actually heard this a few weeks ago. Uggh.

9. Any contemporary country
Can't stand it. I desperately try to remove myself from any situation where I have to hear it. In fact, it was a point of mild contention at a shoe store I worked at. Everyone else liked country and we had a radio in the back room. I was nice about it, but I asked them not to play it when I was there. I hated to be such a pain in the ass, but that's how much I hate country music. They were cool about it, thankfully. They also liked classic rock, so that was a good compromise. It helped we were all good friends.

11. Jump -- Van Halen
Makes me want to hurl the radio into a lake, preferably a lake filled with the members of Van Halen.

15. "Frankenstein" -- Edgar Winter
"Show Me the Way" -- Peter Frampton

They were both interesting the first dozen or so times I heard 'em way back when -- BUT! They got far, far too much airplay and now I think of 'em as rabid earworms; if I even hear them announced on radio I Must Change Stations!

16. The song "Signs" (?) done by anyone
For some reason it annoys the living shit out of me. Another one I aboslutely hate is the Steve Miller Band's "Take the Money and Run." Actually all their songs annoy me but that one is the worst.

18. All Steve Miller songs annoy me.
In fact, you made me think of another song I tear my hair out over. Abra Cadabra. "I'm gonna reach out and grab ya!" Oh, and the one where he sings "I get my lovin on the ruuuuuuun.... Woooohoooooo.... Space Cowboy blah blah blah...." Just all of them.

19. The worst of it was that when I was in HS
the party album of choice was "The Steve Miller Band's Greatest Hits." I damn near went insane when I went to a party.
