I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness
starving hysterical naked,
dragging themselves through the negro streets at dawn looking for an angry fix,

angelheaded hipsters burning for the ancient heavenly connection to the starry dynamo in the machinery of night,
who poverty and tatters and hollow-eyed and high sat up smoking in the supernatural darkness of cold-water flats
floating across the tops of cities contemplating jazz,

2. Many Famous Poets Have Just One Great Poem
IMO, Allen Ginsberg had one great line. But what a line it was:
Angelheaded hipsters burning for the ancient heavenly connection to the starry dynamo in the machinery of night

4. starry dynamo,
...while on the shop and street I gazed
my body of a sudden blazed
for 50 minutes more or less
it felt so great my happiness
that I was blessed
and could bless.

(I've probably misquoted, I haven't thought about this for a while)

3. To Hear a Bit of This Poem Set to Music

and select "I Should be Allowed to Think".

Of course, it might ruin your appreciation of the original.
