Wiscosnin Woman charged with stealing $3700 worth of food from McDonald's
http://www.jsonline.com/news/wauk/may05/323043.asp

A woman and her teenage son have been charged with burglarizing a Menomonee Falls McDonald's restaurant with the aid of an acquaintance.

Pam L. Peters, 40, of West Bend, Jacob M. Peters, 17, of West Bend and Richard A. Boyd, 56, of Milwaukee were charged in a criminal complaint that says they stole food valued at about $3,700 from the eatery at N83-W15515 Appleton Ave. on April 26. The complaint also charges them with obstructing an officer for allegedly lying about their identities when they were stopped and questioned by police.

The complaint says that a van driven by Pam Peters was stopped about 3:45 a.m. April 26 at Good Hope Road and Appleton Ave. because it was bearing a license plate which belonged on a car. During questioning, Pam Peters said she and the others were en route to a friend's house with food that needed to be delivered pronto, according to the complaint.

When the officer looked in the van he saw it was loaded with boxes of eggs, hamburgers, sausage patties, chicken nuggets and bacon, among other things, the complaint says. Another officer was then sent to the nearby McDonald's and discovered that it had been burglarized, according to the complaint.

1. why bother charging her?
If she eats it all before it goes bad, she'll be dead before a trial.

2. Instant insanity defense.
I find her not guilty. McDonald's "food" is a punishment in and of itself. Poor thing.

3. If you were going to steal food, and that's a big if,
why in the name of god would you steal McDonald's food? Ugh.

5. Like a previous poster said..
This crime alone should be eligible for an insanity defense.

4. Hard to believe anything short of a tractor-trailer could haul THAT much.
Seriously their cost for a burger is like 15 cents.

6. True, but the estimated $ amount was probably retail
It was probably the number Mickey D's planned on giving their insurance company, the retail value of all the stolen food.

7. It's a bogus charge. There is no "food" at McDonalds.
