That's right Lounge Lizards, I'm off to Mexico. Taking a brief break from packing to bid you farewell, then it's a few hours of sleep and away I go.

I'll be thinking of you -in between the corona, cabana boys, night life, beach, ocean and whatever kind of trouble I can stir up.

Adios Amigos!

1. In Mexico
I went for a walk to inhale
The tranquil, cool, lover's air
I could taste a trace
Of American chemical waste
And the small voice said
"What can we do?"

In Mexico
I went for a walk to inhale
The tranquil, cool, lover's air
I could sense the hate
of the lonestar state
And a small voice said
"What can we do?"

It seems if you're rich
And you're white
You'll be all right
I just don't see why this should be so
If you're rich and you're white
You'll be all right
I just don't see why this should be so

In Mexico
I lay on the grass
And I cried my heart out
For want of my love
Oh, for want of my love
Oh, for want of my love

It seems if you're rich
And you're white
You think you're so right
I just don't see why
This should be so

If you're rich and you're white
Then you'll be OK
I just don't see why
This should be so

In Mexico,
I lay on the grass
And I cried my heart out
For want of my love
For want of my love
For want of my love
For want of my love

6. Nothing wrong with a week or so of drunken debauchery.
All work and no play makes Scout a dull girl.

8. Just keep your clothes on.
The locals don't particularly care for the immodesty of American women (specifically the spring breakers).

10. Ummm, seems to me that the European women have the market
cornered on the nude sunbathing. Sure they were Americans?

And I will make no such promise about keeping my clothes on. Damn Fenris...live a little will ya?!

13. Well, I'm 33 and can't guarantee a little debauchery won't take place.
However, I've traveled extensively and I promise to respect the culture.

I'm an archaeologist in Yucatan near Merida. Good guide advice if you want to see some sites in the Penninsula.

7. Oh Yeah Maya Riviera! Beautiful There.

Must be between Cancun and Play Del Carmen. There are a strip of very sweet high end resorts along that way. I don't know that name in particular. It must be one of the new ones that have been going up.

What are you interested in? Beaches, Sites, Scuba/Snorkel?

9. That's exactly where it is - in the middle of both.
It's an all inclusive (my first time at such a resort) and I know we have a snorkel trip planned.

I'd like to do something a little more cultural or environmental. Any ideas? I'd love your input.

12. There Are Two Great Archaeological Sites Not Too Far From There.
Edited on Tue May-03-05 06:37 PM by DistressedAmerican
Right on the water south of Playa is Tulum. Reasonably small site but, situated on a cliff over looking the water. There is a great little beach right in the middle of the site. Very worth it if you can arrange to get there. If you are all inclusive, they'll be able to arrange something.

The other is the site of Coba. It is a bit further inland. But, it is huge. Great place to visit and not too over run with tourists. Huge pyramids. You can also rent bikes at the site to get around which is great. Lots of trails and nature to be had.

Take lots of water to either. It is one of the hottest times of the year right now. Not bad along the coast but worse inland.

17. OH I was there recently!
You HAVE to take a bus down to the Playa Del Carmen city area, it's a beautiful strip of shops and restaurants that goes on for miles.

Also, if you take pics of anything that says "Maya," send them to me! I took far too many pics like this just cause it's my name :)

And when I post it upon my return, it will be my first ever photo posted of myself ANYWHERE on the Internet.

18. MEXICO rocks! My sweetie has been there several times. Take PHOTOS!
She took a course in 'Yucateca' a few years back; the only phrase she remembers is "Help, I am falling out of my hammock"...

It's funny, because that's a phrase that NO ONE has ever used in ANY language.
If you are actually FALLING OUT of a hammock, you're lucky if you have time to say 'Oh Shit' in your native tongue!

Would have been more useful to learn to say:
"I've fallen (from my hammock) and I can't get up!"

But I digress...

Scout, have a wonderful time, and take lots of pics for us anchorite-types!

Like they said on "KingOfTheHill":
"EVERYTHING is legal in Mexico....It's the American WAY!"

Please return all cabana-boys to an upright position, for the convenience of the NEXT horny tourist!

And I promise that no cabana boys will be harmed (permanently) during the course of my vacation.
