29. It's right over the Brooklyn Bridge
It's only the third stop on the F train in Brooklyn. About 25 min to midtown. You can also walk to the 4/5 express train and that'll take you only 3 or 4 stops to Union Square or Grand Central, about 15 minutes.

45. You should look into Red Hook
It's right by Carroll Gardens and quite a bit cheaper. It's still on the potential-to-be-gentrified cusp.

We have a big 3 bedroom with lots of kitchen space and washer/dryer for only $1600 a month.

And I can get to my office by Battery Park by 9:30 as long as I catch the 9:00 bus.

It's a little desolate at times but so was Williamsburg 6 or 7 years ago.

53. That there are
The 360 on Van Brunt is a very nice actual restaurant. It's a strictly prix fixe menu (or it was when I was there right after they opened), but very good and not too expensive either.

My personal new fave is El Huiplas, a little Mexican place on Sullivan St. It's a little hidden, and, selection-wise, it's just your typical New York Mexican food -- but the food is outstanding. They have some of the best tamales I've run across in the city.

And I am a tamale nut! (Actually, I'm crazy for just about any Mexican food -- as long as it's good!)

Was there a few weeks ago for their open mic and I was VERY impressed! I didn't know what to expect, but the food was really good! They have a brick oven and make brick oven Pizza that is sensational! And their brews are terrific too!

54. I have not
Although I saw your post (I assume that was yours, anyway) about that place a few weeks ago and put it on my list of places to try.

It's only a couple of blocks away from me. I can literally see the sign for it from my doorstep, but I have never been.

Everytime I've been past the place it's always been deserted. I didn't even know they had food until I saw your post!

55. Having grown up in the DC area, I detect the hateful jealousy
inherent in so many DC folks against NY. Me, I love New York City, but prefer the DC suburbs to New York's.

Of course, I'm still pissed off about Jets beating the Colts and Mets Beating the Orioles.......

I COULD easily live in NYC if I wanted. I just genuinely hate the place everytime I go there.

One of my best friends grew up in Throg's Neck, in the Bronx. Haven't been to NY in ages. I miss going record shopping in the East Village and then getting tanked at some seedy bar in a cellar!

Northern Virginia is starting to look a little too much like SoCal, and has the traffic to boot.
The DC Beltway is easily as prone to traffic james as the worst LA Freeway
