The Decemberists
I just cold-bought an album by this band, "Picaresque" solely on word of mouth. Hadn't heard any of it.

Wow.

If you have not heard this band, do yourself a favor. They are extremely good. The best way I could describe them is kind of an REM sound mixed with some Dispatch. Awesome stuff.

Anyone else have any favorite songs by them or advice on good albums? History?

1. They are fantastic!
I've seem them live a couple of times. At the start of their shows they play the old Soviet National Anthem. :D

All of their stuff is quite good. I recommend them highly.
