5. Around $2.05 in Southeast TX
Actually today I saw it for $2.01 at the local Shamrock station and was amazed; gas prices actually going down as it gets closer to summer!?!

Gas prices tend to be on the low end around here; cost of living in general tends to be pretty cheap here- probably 'cause no one in their right mind would wanna stay here for any extended period of time! (Why I'm still here I can't really tell you...)

10. I have lived in Southeast TX for most of my life, and I agree with
everything you said! If it wasn't for mass quantities of (soon to be not-so)cheap oil and air conditioning, the region would be significantly less populous.

Gas is about $2.05 a gallon in my necka th' woods, as well.

9. California Will Probably Catch Up With You by Fall
Prices shot up a lot higher here, and they STAYED up.
None of this dropping back down like in other states.
California still gets special treatment.

This is still the low-demand time of year for gasoline.
We'll probably hit $4 by the 4th of July in California,
and pass you by Labor Day.

11. I have been getting discounts as high as $3.20 off per gallon (Free Gas)
One of our local grocery store chains has this deal that if you shop for so many dollars worth of groceries, you can get gas discounts and in some cases due to what I have been buying I get free gas sometimes.

And one place now has it for 1.97 while 2 others have it for 1.99. This is about 15 minutes from home, but I'm still driving there to get it.

32. $1.50 here
Unless they're raised it again. I don't ride the bus much anymore, since Regional Transit seems determined to make it the most unplesant experience possible, between the smell and the rude drivers.

27. horry county passes pre-pay law
The county wherein Myrtle Beach, S.C. resides has just recently passed a countywide law that mandates pre-pay for gasoline at the pumps. Apparently, drive offs are so frequent that both gas station owners and police are on the same page when it comes to gasoline theft.

Honestly, I don't blame them. I live in a tourist trap of a town where drive off's occur every other minute. However, i'm probably going to avoid gas stations that DON'T have a card reader at the pump itself. I've also heard that there's only a 3-4 cent margin per gallon for local gas merchants (which I don't believe), and where they make their killing is on all of the overpriced junk inside the store (which I do believe).

This is only going to help improve their sales of overpriced merchandaise if people are forced to walk in and pre-pay.

What are your thoughts?
