When it comes to work, I can't help it. Something that shouldn't bug me really is... but I can't help it. I'm just fucking pissed. It's like I've turned into my father or something.

1. That might be the clue to not getting pissed off
you don't want to be like your parents! Actually, I've been perpetually angry since November of 2000, so I don't exactly know what to tell you. And THEN they took away the NHL.....

2. Sorry, I'm no help. The only times I'm not pissed off
are when I stay away from all news sources for a few weeks, or when I'm pining over the neighbor I've fallen in love with--then I'm just sad. Pissed off, or sad. Take your pick!

I think I'll go eat some worms.

5. I get like that
I know with me, my problem is that I care about what I do and I get really irritated because most of my co-workers don't really give a shit. Which makes my job harder.

It's tough for me to step back from it and be philosophical. Still, that's what I have to attempt. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. So I guess I don't really have any sage advice.

6. Go on a really really long bike ride
Keep training to be capable of riding 100 miles at a time.

Kinda puts things in a different perspective, and it beats smoking (dope) and/or drinking.

Peace comes from within. It comes from the understanding that you, and ONLY you, can control your fate, and your happiness.

16. But you can't control that, so why worry about it?
Anger just breeds more anger, within yourself and for those who have to deal with you. It's a self-perpetuating cycle.

Don't stress about shit that you can't control. Other people get to you only because you let them. Your anger lets outside influences take charge of your emotions and your life.

21. I agree with you 100%! Also it does no good to put on someone
as the solely responsible for other's callous manner. I believe one of the reasons the society has been in such a bad state is people do not take some responsibility for another person's reaction to them. In other words, too much of this how some uncaring jerks - like the ones HeyHey is talking about - have no respect or interest with how they react towards someone else.

25. But reacting with anger does no good
It only makes you look like jerk, too, and perpetuates the cycle of callous anger.

Set a better standard, be an example of how to act correctly. Don't play the road rage game, shoot 'em a smile and wave instead of the finger. Nothing gets an angry person's goat like a person who won't play the game.

Case in point, I feel great right now, but you guys are pissed off. Who's the victim? Me? Don't think so. I'm gonna get laid by my wife and sleep like a baby tonight. Sounds like you're just gonna seethe with resentment. Who's the victim in THAT scenario?

At the end of the day, none of it really matters. You'll never see that as long as you let others control you like that.

React with something other than anger and hatred. THAT's what I advocate.

27. One thing I can share
It's a saying I heard once (Zen Buddhist? Buddhist? Whatever.)

We are not punished FOR our anger, we are punished by it.

And, as it turns out, it's true. Our bodies pump out all sorts of ugly chemicals and toxins when we have negative emotions.

You might try some sports or something -- my mother used to go pull weeds whenever she got good and mad.

You might try to find out what is at the BOTTOM of your anger. Usually there's something from childhood or even a lot of things from childhood that are unresolved.

I always found that a sense of powerlessness was underneath -- way down there at the very bottom -- of my own anger and rage.

I should have quit it earlier. Last summer I had to quit it and a week latter started the Triazadone. I'm up to 75. It makes me sleepy enough to sleep and I don't wake up groggy. 57. Maybe your last sentence is the key
Tough to self-examine, but I realized as a young mother that I was getting pissed off at all the things my mom got pissed off at when I was a kid.

One day I stoppped and realized that I really wasn't pissed about those things - I just THOUGHT I should be pissed about things because my mom got pissed about those things. My revelation happened while I was sweeping the floor. My mother had a sacred rule about not stepping through the swept-up pile, and she really would go off about it ( there were other issues for her, just as there are for each of us, but the walking through her swept up dirt was one of her "triggers.")

After that day, i started examining my own triggers and why i reacted to certain things the way I did.

I still get muy pissed at things, but it's gotten better as I've grown older and realize I don't know jack shit and all my worry, rage, fear and frustration don't impact a frickin' thing.

Just words from someone who hopes you are feeling better, HEyHEY
