How Many Hours A Night Do You Sleep?
Does it take you very long to fall asleep?

I can usually fall asleep in about 10 or 15 minutes... IF I've been awake for at least 16 hours. Most nights I'll only wake up once, but I'll generally get in about 7 or 8 hours sleep.

In college, I'd survive on 3 or 4 hours sleep per night for weeks at a time. I'd keel over if I tried to do that now.

2. My body wakes me up after approx. 7 hours.
The warmer it is, the longer it takes me to fall asleep. I sleep great in cool weather! :-)

3. I'd sleep my life away if I could
I can be a real slug sometimes. But it takes me forever to actually fall asleep. I have to read sometimes for hours. Once I'm out, I'm out though (most of the time). If I could get away w/it, I'd sleep all day.

12. Nighttime
Sunday, Monday and Tuesday nights, 3 hours tops, if I'm lucky. I work a sleepover shift at my job and I'm supposed to sleep there... yeah... right...

Wednesday Night... 12 hours

Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights I average 6 to 7 hours

And every night I'm up at least twice doing a bathroom run...

13. Usually six to eight hours a night
But lately I've been doing some sleeping during the day, too. I just can't stay awake all day for some reason. Maybe I'm just getting old.

14. not nearly enough
But, I get that lost hour back this weekend! No matter when I get to sleep I awake around 6-6:15. Those sleep experts state that if you wake at the same time you're getting enough sleep - I say they're full of crap!!

Unless I'm awake for a very good reason;) it's best to leave me alone after 10:30 otherwise there had better be someone in the house with a fever, cough, etc. or I could get grouchy.

15. I usually get about 6-8 per night
during the week. The weekends I sleep in, usually til 10. My honey gets up religiously at 6am, during the week and sleeps in til 7 on the weekends. He laughs at me because, once I decide to go to sleep, I go to sleep almost instantly. And unless one of the cats startles him during the night, I will sleep uninterrupted until the alarm goes off. (if one of the cats startles him, he goes into an epileptic-like fit, that can rock the house off of it's foundation.) The only thing that will get me up in the middle of the night is heartburn. i get some wicked heart burn (actually acid reflux) and I will drink, like, half a gallon of milk to try to wash the nasty taste out of my mouth. I have gotten wise to it now, and I know what foods trigger it, and if I have them, I will take something before I go to sleep.

it seems the less sleep I get ( or need). I do have to have my power nap however.

18. 6 to 8... but...
I have sleep apnea and I know my CPAP needs to be adjusted. I'm sure that during those 6 to 8 hours I am never getting any more than 4 minutes of uninterrupted REM sleep.

19. I need 9, but usually only get 7 during the week
I have tested my sleep/wake cycle during periods where I didn't have to get up in the morning and it is 9 hours almost exactly every time.

If I get less, I can barely drag myself out of bed.

23. 4-5 a night
I am a software developer, so when I get an idea, I test it. I also suspect I have RLS which disrupts sleep patterns.

Later,

25. My partner does the same thing...
... he dreams in Visual-C. Whenever one of his dreams comes up with a new idea (or a solution), he'll get up and write it and test it. Or... at the very least, commit the skeleton of his idea to the keyboard so that he doesn't forget it.

24. About 4 to 6 and it has been a life time thing.
I just do not need alot of sleep and it was interesting as I married a man that sleep like 14 hrs. on week-ends and 10 hrs during the week. My father said he was depressed and I said he has always been like that. Guess who was right?

26. 5-6 hours
I sleep about five to six hours, and it's less than that during midterms or finals week where I'll be up for four or five days straight in a row writing papers and whatnot.

I'm new here, and I have a question. How many posts do you have to have before you start a topic?

28. My preference is for about 10 hours
but I don't generally get it. Left to my own devices, I revert to about a 28-hour day with 10 hours of sleep. Forced to a 24-hour schedule with 7-8 hours sleep, I'm tired and grumpy all the time.

It's called Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome. Some of us are obviously not meant for this planet.
