11. You live in New Jersey? Aren't you a bit
far from home, being cajun?

It's got to be tough for you, trying to find a crawfish boil in the Garden State.

Thanks for the compliment.

12. Well, now...
...I ain't Cajun...just a major fan of all Things Cajun. Have some friends south of I-10 and get down there every once in a great while.

There's a crawfish boil (a really big one) here every June...it's coming up in just a few weeks. It's run by a guy who's native to LA; he brings up five TONS of Crawfish for the boil, contracts with LA caterers for other delights, and brings in two day and two nights worth of the finest Cajun/Zydeco bands and we all have a BLAST!

16. Oh, my. We may have to drive down to Jersey
for that. I'm not a big fan of Zydeco, but am an addict when it comes to Cajun music, so your festival is making its way to our "to do" list for the summer.

Thanks for the link.

looking so nice.

Explanation of the photography technique is below.

7. Actually, it's fairly easy, as long as you have
a camera and a flash that can be set for MANUAL exposure. That's the only way you can make sure the light level is EXACTLY the same for each exposure.

With autoexposure, or autoflash, the light level will change based on whether you're closer to or farther away from the camera.

So. Set the camera on a tripod, use the self-timer, and shoot the pictures of yourself in various places.

In Photoshop, open one of the pictures, and drag the the other pictures on top of that one, while holding down the shift key to make sure each new layer is centered over the one under it.

Then, because the light level is the same in all the layers, all you have to do is make a selection around the image of yourself on one layer, give it about a 4-pixel feather, and delete the selected aread from the other layers. Repeat for all instances of yourself.

Sure beats flash-painting and all the other techniques we had to use in the old days to so something like this.

31. Have you considered this approach in photoshop...
Take the first picture as your base, put the next frame on a layer above it, switch the layer blending mode to "Difference", that will make anything that's different from the layer below white, which makes for quick masking work.

Of course, a tripod is essential for this, and equal lighting makes things easier, but you've got those two things down.

13. Wow, my dear Redstone, that is simply amazing!
You are just an awesome guy! Lucky, lucky Mrs. Redstone! Looks to me as though you've been "playing with cameras" for a long time. Way to go...I have to ask my daughter to do simple digital things for me...Eventually I will learn the simple stuff, but this? Nevah! Thank you so much for posting this...

:applause:

:woohoo:

Hope you're feeling better...:pals:

17. You CAN learn this stuff; it's not that complicated
once you get involved with it.

I'm sure you have some untapped creativity you could apply to it. If you do so, a year from now my explanation of how it's done will seem like child's play to you.

Go for it. The one thing that keeps some of us young is the willingness to learn new things.

belonged to my grandfather at the paper mill, back in the old days when rolltops were just everyday office desks.

How things change....

23. Let me guess: The picture would show you
getting the kids ready for school; going to work; cleaning the house; getting dinner ready for everyone; helping with the homework; cleaning up after dinner; getting the kids ready for bed, and on and on...

Not necessarily in that order, but all of the above included; am I right?

But I'm sure your family appreciates all that you do, and I hope they provided you with the happy Mother's Day that you deserve.

Although I don't go to work - I'm a stay home mom.

But yes, I do feel appreciated, and lucky to have the family I do.

Because of my family, I remind myself every single day about what a fortunate son of a bitch I am.

30. See the explanation of how it's done. Try it yourself,
and think up your own creative variations.

Then show us what you come up with. I know you can do that. Show us what you got. Be creative, and unafraid.
