High Stakes Game of Paper-Scissors-Rock
Edited on Sun May-08-05 05:21 AM by Lucky Luciano
This is pretty hilarious IMO!!!

Always choose SCISSORS! :)

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2005/04/30/wart30.xml&sSheet=/news/2005/04/30/ixworld.html

In possibly the highest stakes game of scissors, paper, stone ever played, the world's two most prestigious auction houses were forced to play a sudden-death game for the right to sell an £11 million art collection.

Experts from Sotheby's and Christie's settled the spoils in a tense game in a Tokyo office after the boss of a Japanese electronics company could not decide who should handle the sale of a collection including works by Cezanne, Picasso and Van Gogh.

Both companies were understood to have been annoyed by the strange request by Takashi Hashiyama, president of the Maspro Denkoh Corporation, but, aware that the sale would bring the victor several million pounds in fees, rose to the challenge.

1. I don't get it
maybe because I did not follow the link
but if you always choose scissors, then I am always going to choose rock. So you can't always choose scissors. You have to choose paper to beat my rock. Since I know that, I am going to choose scissors to beat your paper. Since you know that I know that you will choose rock to beat my scissors, but since I know that you know that I know that I am going to choose paper to beat your rock.

That's what I hate about that game, every choice seems so obvious.

2. yea..you needed to follow the link
It has nothing to do with probability....one auction house leader asked his kids what to do...The kids said that psychologically scissors was the best first move for whatever reason.

It makes no real difference of course...

They recently started their cartoon on Cartoon Network, it's called "Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi". Their names are Ami and Yumi.

Here's their site:

8. And one of their recent episodes had their *-esque manager lose their
contract in a high-stakes game of Paper-Rock-Scissors - I remembered this especially since most people seem to say "Rock Paper Scissors".

6. Well that's how two divorcing members of DU split there gear up
earlier this year. Seems much more civil than screaming and yelling about stuff...
