Gas prices went back to pre-smooching days. WTF happened?
Edited on Mon May-09-05 07:27 PM by HypnoToad
Back before Bush tongued his buddy who owns the Saudi oil fields, gas was $2.15.

Bush did his tonguing and prices went down to $1.89.

For about 4 days.

I looked today and it's back up to $2.15.

What happened this time? Bush's buddy get cold sores on his lip, or elsewhere?

4. Given the nature of our transit system, anything above $2 is expensive.
For us.

And note the prices of items we buy and consume:

The 6lb chicken breast bags I buy went from $13 to $15.

Futurama DVD sets from $40 to $49. (never mind other sets, most of which have gone up considerably too. And if I didn't pay the old prices, I surely would not pay for the news ones. But that's all due to pirates and not a shrinking economy, of course. :eyes: )

9. And, dammit -
The J. Crew sunwashed cotton lounge pants I like went up from 38.00 to 39.50.

(That was, of course, a tongue-in-cheek complaint)

13. In which case I know the perfect book to borrow from the library...
Don't buy it unless you think the author, Derek Humphrey, really deserves it.

6. Good thing I'm dyslexic...
When * learns to starts fletching it'll get down to 50 cents. Wow, 1 gallon of gasoline is half the price of a worthless RIAA song. Sweet.

8. It went down four cents here today, but it's still 2.339.
I'm at the point where 2.15 looks "cheap" to me.

10. Call me a doomer.
I firmly believe that oil - natural gas, too - is going to become a lot more expensive in the months ahead. There are those who suggest that oil will reach $105 per barrel in three years; frankly, I hope it's only $105. That implies gasoline prices that flirt with $5 per gallon. And, in my opinion, no one - not the pResident, not the Saudis, not the Russians - can stop it.

I expect a bumpy ride. And I hope I'm completely wrong.
