Watching the first episode of Deadwood

I wanted to revel in Ian McShane as Al Swearengen, but so far, this isn't really grabbing me. It's not bad, but the story hasn't drawn me in. I don't care about the protagonist yet, and I've seen better from McShane. I'm this close to giving up on it. McShane was soo much more powerful in Sexy Beast.

I hope I'm wrong.

Seth...eh. I want to like him a lot, as I generally like good people :) but he's not grabbed me yet either. Though he is growing on me.

I much prefered Sol Star ( :loveya: ), Hickok and Swearengen who I ADORE even though he's a rat bastard!!!

Watch until ep 4, and then if you don't like it, stop there, I'd say. There's a shocking development in ep 4 that left me pretty suprised, more than I've been recently by television. Wasn't expecting that at all.

It's a mistake to see any one character as the protagopnist. It's much more complex than that. Give it a chance to show you how much there is to it.

It gets better. It takes awhile to figure out all the different story lines. I have watched every single episode since it first came on. And I usually go to the website and read the synopsis of each episode after I watch it.
