BREAKING NEWS! - Renee Zellweger, Kenny Chesney Tie Knot
"CRUZ BAY, U.S. Virgin Islands - Actress Renee Zellweger, who played the lovelorn title character in "Bridget Jones's Diary," was married Monday to country music star Kenny Chesney in a small ceremony on the Caribbean island of St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands."

I found this on AP's top stories :eyes:
This is the big news of the day? I don't know who the woman is, and the guy is just some second rate country singer. Is this big news to anyone?

1. I wouldn't say big, but certainly strange.
Who would've thought? Who would care?

I don't see why this is AP's top story.

3. Didn't they just meet, like 20 minutes ago?
 I thought she had just broken it off with that Jack White guy. Go figure.

17. According to the article I read last night, they met in January.
At a tsunami relief fundraiser.

Of course, I read in a rag a couple of months ago that she was dating an Irish singer named Damien Rice and was allegedly looking at property in Ireland, so I've learned to take these things with a grain of salt.

(I should add that I'm not one to point fingers at anyone who gets married quickly. I did the same!)

5. Renee Zellweger -- Oscar-winning actress. Just FYI.
IMHO she could have done much better, but I can't impose my tastes on anyone else.

And FTR, I don't think it's "Top News," either. It's irritating when shit like this is "Top News."

11. hmm... only two I can think of besides Bridget Jones (which I didn't see)
are "Chicago" and "Cold Mountain." The latter is the one she got the Oscar for.

Oh, and I think maybe she was in "Nurse Betty?" . . .

Not a classic beauty, but a good actress.

14. Renee Zelleweger is a very good actress...
although she's not as popular as most, because she is not 'beautiful' by hollywood standards. Here's her list of some of the movies she's done:

Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason (2004) .... Bridget Jones
Shark Tale (2004) (voice) .... Angie
Cold Mountain (2003) .... Ruby Thewes
Chicago (2002) .... Roxie Hart
White Oleander (2002) .... Claire Richards
Bridget Jones's Diary (2001) .... Bridget Jones
Me, Myself & Irene (2000) .... Irene P. Waters
Nurse Betty (2000) .... Betty Sizemore
The Bachelor (1999) .... Anne Arden
Jerry Maguire (1996) (as Renee Zellweger) .... Dorothy Boyd
The Return of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1994) (as Renee Zellweger) .... Jenny
8 Seconds (1994) .... Buckle Bunny
Reality Bites (1994) (as Renee Zellweger) .... Tami

15. dig it when hard-working character actors are recognized
yeah, she's had the lead, but because of her looks I suspect she'll spend her career in character/supporting roles.

She was fabulous as Ruby Thewes. Even though it was rough to see her behead that rooster.

18. From interviews I've seen, Zelweger doesn't think she's a breaking story
I love Renee Zellweger. Although I certainly do not think her marriage is a Top Story.

Here is Zellweger's Internet Movie Database page:<http://imdb.com/name/nm0000250/> and her political donations: <http://www.newsmeat.com/celebrity_political_donations/Renee_Zellweger.php>

I've heard her in interviews, she definetly expresses left-leaning beliefs. Sh'es a Texas girl and actually comes across quite nice in interviews. Just my little old humble opinion.

Here's Renee:

This is Kenny Chesney. I had no idea who he was, either:

His website is His webiste wasn't responding, but I have a dinky old dial-up, so it may just be my system.

That being said, their marriage certaily isn't a Top Story. On the imdb.com, I expect it to be a top story- but on AP? Give me a break. But, it's easier to distract than to actually report the news. In their defense, though, when Renee was on (gas) Oprah and on (gag) Oprah After the Show on Oxygen, a woman from the audience expressed an aopinon regarding how celeberities make headlines and how she did't care what renee bought for dinner last night. Zellweger's response is "I wouldn't care either. I don't blame you for being tired of seeing celeberities. I don't even watch the news because I'm tired of all of it, too" This is my paraphrase of her response, but it was something along these lines.

Isn't it sad we ive in an era where the marriage of celeberities are Top Stories and our "leader" lying to us is considered unimportant news that doesn't make the corporate media at all?:eyes:
