18. hands down the winner, if you count only the pre-1999 seasons
after that, ugh!

i would add tv nation to the list. michael moore was at his prime in a tv format. and it had the great janeane garofalo as a correspondent

34. TV Nation
was the best show ever. The bit he did on a black guy owning white slaves was one of the very funniest things I have ever seen on TV.

26. Add my husband to your "pissed off" list -- he loves "Boston Legal"
But CBS has done its best to sink that show by pre-empting it endlessly.

Hopefully, it will be back in the fall. He's watching "Deadwood" now and enjoys it. It's on HBO, but there's just too much profanity in it for me.

24. I love Judging Amy, but I haven't seen it in a good long while.
Vincent was still on the show when I was a regular watcher.

That used to be the ONE show I made time to watch every week.

13. I loved the way Murphy would just casually drop the names of
Washington insiders, and you had to really be up on your politics to get the joke. That was cool. A show that encourages you to stay informed.

Not too many of those around anymore. :(

25. A few of mine.
Arrested Development - There's been a lot of clever jabs at the extreme religious right this past season (with George Michael's fundamentalist girlfriend Ann). God, I hope it gets picked up for a third year. This has to be the best show on television at the moment.

The West Wing - A liberal fantasy. Not as good as it was in the Sorkin years, but at least the entertainment factor has picked up again this last year. Let us never speak of season five again.

Family Guy - Not overtly liberal or political, but the sentiment is there (mocking the religious right, as well as the moral center of the family, Brian the dog, being a liberal). It's funny how Seth McFarlane can still be more timely with this show than with his new "political" cartoon American Dad.

The Daily Show - Duh.

The Lone Gunmen - This was an incredibly goofy X-Files spin-off about the publishers of the conspiracy newspaper The Lone Gunman, but I love it. Hell, the pilot episode was all about MIHOP (it aired about seven months before 9/11). The show had a great patriotic tone to it as well: protecting the ideals of democracy from those within who would wish to subvert it for their own wealth and power. It debuted a year too early, but is very timely now. It also just came out on DVD.

but they say the snarkiest things about repukes. And go easy on Dems. You just have to listen closely.
