I'm going to Paris for Thanksgiving! Yipee!
$299 RT on Air France. I haven't been in FOUR YEARS, which is the longest time without my Paris fix. During the '90s, I used to go twice a year because the airfare sales used to be a lot more sweet. I also had more money, because it was the Clinton years. :-(

I can't wait to go back! The weather sucks in November, but Paris is beautiful no matter what!

:woohoo: :bounce: :woohoo: :bounce::woohoo: :bounce::woohoo: :bounce::woohoo: :bounce::woohoo: :bounce:

3. I haven't had my Paris fix since 1999 honeymoon.
Lucky you!

I can't believe how low Air France's RT airfare is. Where are you flying from? JFK?

6. Boston
they haven't had an airfare sale this good in a long time. I've gone to Italy and Amsterdam instead.

I also think it's ridiculous that it costs me LESS to fly to Europe than the the West Coast. :wtf:

10. Perhaps Air France and other European airlines weren't hit as hard by
9-11 as domestic airlines.

In late April airfares Boston-San Diego more than quadrupled overnight. Just as I was about to fly a friend from Harvard here for the weekend. So I cashed in some frequent flyer miles instead.

Sorry about the question - I forgot your handle was Kathy in Cambridge when I posted.

4. You go, girl!
You are so lucky. My sister and I just decided the other day not to go in June like we had planned.

We went to Spain via AirFrance, while I'll never enjoy flying, it wasn't nearly as excruciating as some other airlines I've taken and the food and service was quite nice.

Bon voyage! :toast:

13. Both of my visits to Paris
were at Thanksgiving time (2000 and 2003). The weather was actually quite comfortable. But the best part was being in Paris "off-season." We only waited 20 minutes in line for the Eiffel Tower, and no lines at all at the other tourist hot-spots.

Will you be visiting any other European cities on your trip?

After seeing London the week before; stayed in the St Germain area? on the other side of the river was Notre Dame cathedral...remember following the US election in the Herald Tribune and was thrilled when Clinton won; I was so happy to be flying home to the US...of course if I were in Paris 5 years ago, I'd still be there...

26. I've never had a Paris fix. I've never been to Europe.
I've never seen a country older than this one.

I really feel as though an important part of my education is missing, because I haven't seen these places for myself. I want to go to France, Spain, the UK, Greece, Italy, Germany, Norway, Russia...

Sorry to be a downer! Congrats on getting such a fabulous fare! It would cost more than that just for me to fly to Minneapolis.

31. Be prepared. Air France ain't what it used to be.
You have a shorter flight than we do from SF, but we have noticed that AF has gone downhill over the past few years.

However, at that fare, how can you go wrong?

Just bring a couple of powerbars and some extra water, just in case...

And, November can still be beautiful, it was for quite a bit of the time we were there last year.

Personally, we won't fly AF again because of a bereavement refund dispute. But I'm glad you got a good fare.

35. I have always been treated like gold on Air France
and my boss just flew them last week, and he said they were lightyears better than Delta, American, or United on transatlantic flights.

I really like SwissAir, but they're always very expensive.

I am a frequent flyer (over 100K miles on 3 airlines) and honestly, the US airlines pale in comparison to any Asian or European airline.

38. That was our experience too, until recently.
May be different on the shorter flights, but United (!?) has outshone AF in our last couple of visits. We go several times a year, and it's definitely changed.

Anyway, have a great trip no matter what!
