1. isn't it bad to throw it down the sink
like, bad for the pipes or something? i don't know. my SO dumps the grease in old coffee cans, then when they get full he throws them away.

4. i've heard
that it's bad because if the grease solidifies it can clog your sink.
HOWEVER, unfortunately that's what i do.

2. DO NOT THROW IT AWAY

Let it cool, put it in tupperware, save in the fridge. Add just a smidge to sauteeing oil-or a lot if your cholesterol is as good as mine. You'll thank me the rest of your life. This is especially good with beans. BTW, this is an ancient restaurant trick...

3. If you're not going to cook with it later (which you should do),
then dispose of the grease in a sealed container. I use old jars for this purpose. But really, frying things in bacon grease is really f-ing tasty.

11. It's okay to put in suet feeders or on trees,
but don't put it on wood steps or deck railings (the grease stains the wood).

It's better to re-use than recycle or trash. :hi:

7. DON'T PUT IT DOWN THE DRAIN IF YOU HAVE A SEPTIC SYSTEM!
Actually, don't do it if you have sewers, either. It makes more work for the sewage-treatment plant.

9. putting it down the sink is not only bad for your pipes,
but if you have a septic system, it's bad for that too. We put all grease in glass jars, w/lids, or what ever else is handy w/a lid so it doesn't get all over the place when we throw it away.

12. THROW the grease AWAY? Are ye daft, man?
You have a coffee container or a clean glass jar. Drain the bacon drippings into the jar. Keep the jar in the fridge until such time as you want to make something delicious. Lard (pork fat) is falsely accused of being a health hazard, but it is perfectly healthy. We know now that the real health hazards were "trans" fats such as in margarine.

You haven't had fried rice until you've had fried rice in bacon drippings. Oh yes, that's good stuff.

The conservation movement is a breeding ground of communists
and other subversives. We intend to clean them out,
even if it means rounding up every birdwatcher in the country.

13. Don't throw it in the trash. If possible, you can save it and use it to
flavor other foods while cooking. (beans and peas are always better with a little bacon grease)

16. Throw AWAY!!!!!
What the hell!! That stuff is liquid (or semi-solid, anyway) gold!!! Nothing, I mean nothing, adds flavor like a little bacon grease.

Throwing bacon grease away? That's worse than a crime; it's a blunder. :spank:

so i will be taking this advice, and giving it a try.

THANK YOU! :hi:
