How many really care about how Darth Vader became evil?
Wasn't it enough to know that he did? Don't you ever wonder what happened to Hans, the Princess, and Luke after episode 6?

2. I do.
It interests me more to find out why he became evil then just knowing he is.

6. Given the fact that he was only going to do 3 more episodes,
I'd rather have seen Hans, Leia, and Luke. I haven't attended any of the last 3 Star Wars movies and the only reason I bought the dvd was because of my kids. If it had just been myself, I'd never have spent the money.

7. There are books that discuss what happened to Luke/Han/Leia
After Return of the Jedi.

How exactly Annakin became Darth Vader remains a mystery.

9. Lucas at one time was going to produce an episode 7, 8 and 9
...perhaps he just waited too long. I speculate that Hans, the Princess and Luke got enmeshed in a love triangle and Luke grew up and became stiff and ambitious while Hans remained the space cowboy whose body could not keep up with his addiction to adrenalin rushes. In the end, it is Hans seed that is spent in the Princess and she bears a male child Faracon, which Luke raises as a new Jedi Knight. Faracon become wealthy beyond any others in the universe and creates a Universal political party which challenges the evil empire to a final battle that is the mother of all battles. By episode 9 the evil empire is extinguished. Faracon has four sons, all of whom are worthless oafs.....at this point George Lucas, totally frustrated by the way these story lines are going, decides, fuck it! Let someone else finish this, I'm going to enjoy the fruits of my labor.

I'm going with my adult son to see episode 6. I know I'll enjoy it, I haven't missed any of the previous episodes and I've loved them all.

10. Uhh, Luke is the Princess's brother
See what gay marriages can cause? Now brother/sister incest is okay.

What next? GOPukes allowed to breed?

The mind boggles.

14. Well, Cleopatra had a convivial relationship with her brother....
...2100 years ago, why not something similar 2500 in the future, or wait Star Wars actually takes place "a long time ago in a far away Galaxy", so sure morals were different.

11. Oh, I don't know.
The themes of falling into evil and the (apparent) triumph of evil are rather timely now.

...Of course, whether these themes are handled well in the movie is another matter.

But I suspect that most viewers will be more interested in seeing the "action" than in absorbing any sort of lesson. (It might even be possible that the creators had similar suspicions.) And I imagine that as long as the action is good, the plot will not get too much critical scrutiny from most viewers. (Besides, some major characters obviously live on, as they appear in "later" movies -- and good is known to eventually triumph -- so it can hardly be as depressing as real life, and it should provide adequate escapism and entertainment for many viewers.)

17. Part of the wanting to know 'how'
includes an element of 'how could it have been prevented'?

If he had just gotten a little more love, could all of this killing never have happened? *sigh*

(Sorry, been reading Kitty Kelley's "The Family" again lately...)

BTW, Han and Leia got married, had a coupla kids, Han sold used spaceships on the west side of an upscale suburban galaxy and the Princess became a stay-at-home mom with a Xanax and vodka habit and they eventually divorced. Their kids weren't worthless oafs but they came to nothing of importance. Luke became a professor at Jedi University but was passed over for department head a few times and finally retired bitter and alone to a midrise condo overlooking a floating metropolis on a coastline far, far, away. They DID manage to keep their pensions and they all had universal health care. Truly universal health care.
