I've Burned 150,000 Calories In The Past Three Months
Yeah, I'm a bit obsessive about this.

:)

I've also lost 43 pounds since the Super Bowl - February 5th.

Going from 211 to 168. From a (snug) size 36 pants to a (loose) size 32.

I've decided to stop on May 17th, which will be the 100th day since I started my diet. I'm hoping to be down to 166 by then so I can say I've lost 45 pounds in 100 days.

For those wondering where I got the 150,000 calories thing from - I believe you have to burn 3,500 calories in order to lose a pound. I've lost 43, so 43x3,500 = 150,500 - rounding down for the nice round number.

I've always heard stories of people losing weight to look good for the summer, but I never thought I'd be able to - especially without doing any exercise other than mild walking.

1. OK..some questions
How did you do it? Are you calorie counting? How much walking per day, timewise? Are you on any special diet? Atkins or the like?

(btw...congrats on your accomplishment..you quit smoking too right?)

5. I count basically everything
But the formula for me was:

Cut your calorie intake in half = 1,000 or less a day
Cut your fat intake in half = 35g or less a day
Cut your carb intake by 1/6 = 50g or less a day

I also completely stopped consuming soda and snacks like potato chips, pretzels, cookies, candy, ect.

I do have ice cream (small size) occasionally, and I make frequent trips to Ralph's for Italian Ices (fat free, low carb chocolate).

But mostly it's by limiting what you take in.

There was a time about a year ago when I used to have a roll, six slices of bacon and a vanilla Pepsi for breakfast. Burger King/Wendys/McDonalds for lunch and whatever I wanted for dinner.

Whenever I used to make tea in the morning i used to fill about 1/5 of the cup with sugar.

Now I have three slices of low-carb rye bread (6g per slice, compared to 20 for the average slice of rye bread) and crystal light ice tea for breakfast.

I skip lunch, but eat an early dinner of turkey or tuna or something like that.

I haven't touched fast food (expect for the occasional chicken nuggets, which aren't all that bad, but definitely stay away from the French fries).

But most important is having discipline. If you are disciplined you can lose as much weight as you want.

9. You need to exercise too
I certainly don't want to diminish your accomplishment, but exercise during weight loss is important to retain muscle mass and bone density. If you've limited your intake to 1000 calories or less a day - you're starving your body at your weight.

I'm not much of a runner, but I do like to play paddleball and shoot hoops at the high school near me. I have some weights I should dust off also.

8. Good work!
I have maybe ten pounds I'd like to ditch. However, I've been cycling 60-75 miles per week, often into a stiff wind, commuting to my job and dang! am I hungry!
