I'm so nervous about being interviewed!
I have a phone interview at noon for a local radio show about the Hands Off Venezuela campaign. I've done this kind of thing before, but its been a long time. The most I've done even somewhat recently has been short blurbs, small quotes, 30 second clips.

I'm seriously nervous. And my roommate owes me a pack of smokes and still hasn't come home. And I'm broke. Eeek!

:scared: :scared: :scared:

1. Good luck
you'll be fine. Know what you're going to say and take a deep breath. You don't need smokes to chill out.

yeah, and I have a job interview by phone at the exact same time! :hi:

4. Yes! We're like interview twins!
and a hardcore smoker DOES need smokes to chill out *laughs* but oh well. I'm pretty somewhat maybe sure it'll be ok... I just can't help being nervous. Thanks for the kind words :)

2. You'll do fine
When Michael (world's greatest husband) was on the radio with Guy the first few times, he was nervous, but he sounded fine-

I called the GuyJames show once; and hated it though! I just don't have the voice for radio, and I also sound horrible on recordings-

5. I sound
soooo weird on the radio, it's bad. At least I'm doing it over the phone so I can have all my materials open and worst case scenario, if I totally freeze up I can google it.

Thanks :)

I say make yourself a cup of tea, take some deep breaths, and let your bad (as in bad assness) self shine. You know your stuff and if you don't impress them with your knowledge and intellect, the station is lame and doesn't deserve you!

I can't remember the post, it was the other day in gd i think. It was in regards to Hugo and Fidel and I found your posts really right on and informative. I wanted to jump in on it, but I didn't have more to add to what you were saying and I didn't want to come off sounding like a staking cheerleader.

Break legs on your interview.

12. I was
screaming about Fidel and Chavez in a couple of threads in LBN the past couple of days, musta been it. Thanks :) Jump in anytime, if those were the threads in question, I coulda used a little help battling the blatant lies that had me tearing out my hair.
I think my room mate is recording the interview, which is making me even MORE nervous. Eeek.

Thanks for the good wishes! I can't recall seeing any of your posts, but I'll keep an eye out for them!

14. I'm still kind of green.
I'll definitely jump in for moral support next time. Thank you for bringing that to my attention, I hadn't thought of that. I watched the documentary, the Revolution will not be Televised and that's the extent of my Hugo knowledge. I didn't want to front like I was an expert just because I saw a documentary. I didn't think about how my posting on the topic could have helped shoulder your effort of trying to inform folks on a different perspective.

Don't be nervous about recording. It will be very helpful to you if you continue down radio land. Everyone sounds like crap at first but it gets better the more you do it. (and you'll get used to the sound of voice) When you get nervous, think about something funny. The voice always sounds warmer when your on the edge of laughing.

See you around!

:hi:

16. You should DEFIANTLY
watch the "Venezuela Bolivariana: People and Struggle of the Fourth World War" documentary. SO GOOD. You can get them for like, $10 from the hands off Venezuela website (with the cover I designed :P) or I'm sure its available for download on line.

Don't even worry about not jumping in. I mean, its not like its your responsibility or anything. But people REALLY need to be informed on a different perspective in this issue, especially when I read stuff like this: http://edition.cnn.com/2005/WORLD/americas/02/23/venezuela.attack/index.html

My favorite quote, from none other than Condi: "..we are very concerned about a democratically elected leader who governs in an illiberal way."

17. I heard the other day, from the fellow who called the Kentucky Derby,
that there is a pill folks take for stage fright that he takes to keep his hands still so the binoculars he uses to see the horses don't shake while he's calling a race. Forgot the name of the pill, but I'd just take a Xanax. :D Better life through chemistry.

24. And done!
I think it went pretty well. I was having a really REALLY hard time hearing the interviewer so I may have not answered some of his questions properly, or at all. But I was nervous so I did a little bit of the 'uh, uhm' thing... however at least I knew the answers to his questions  hopefully its generated some interest in the the campaign! Eeeeek I really don't wanna hear it when it airs, I'm going to hate it, I know it.
