Pity party time: Whose day sucked more than mine?
Post your tale of woe here. I'll be the sole arbiter of whether it was worse than mine. Surely, someone's day had to be worse.

Hey, at least your misery could be good for something: Making me feel better.

Any takers?

15. With what's been going on lately
it does sound like misery, but completely self-inflicted and avoidable. No dice.

18. When the overall sum of your life is measured
how much will that test really matter?

Some tests are truly a matter of life and death. Those are the ones that count.

and therefore, teach biology...which is my dream =(
There are more important things, but right now, I feel like shit for not being able to tell the evolutionary pathway of three species of grass based on the number of bivalents and univales formed in hybrid crosses

BTW, I bet you would do better in a different environment. What about a more rural school?

would be the least of my worries right now. This isn't real life.

Actually, if more people around here had real problems to deal with, I think some of this stupid bullshit would stop. It's called perspective.

7. My best friend called me , desperate to have me watch her 2 daughters for
a few hours. One is autistic, and the other one is worse. Two deck contractors didn't show up, 1 came and gave us a 'ball-park' $45,000 estimate. I ate a pound and a half of cherries on a binge and had to spend 7-10 minutes in the bathroom a few hours later.

Oh, and the puppy peed in the house twice.

Other than that, a normal day:-)

30. Wood is very expensive right now.
We built a wrap-around covered porch last year, and the lumber bill was over $8k. The foundation bill was shockingly expensive too - so I guess concrete is rather spendy now.

11. Here's my Friday 13th tale
Keep in mind this is supposed to be my DAY OFF.

Woke at 6 am to get my 11 yr old daughter ready for school. While I was otherwise occupied, my dog crapped the carpet not once, but TWICE! And peed in another spot. Cleaned up messes. Got daughter off to school where I had to stop and talk to the principal regarding a disciplinary situation that has resulted in her not being allowed to take the bus to school for 2 days. Finally got out to try to pursue my outdoor hobby, but thunderstorms rolled in and took care of that. Saw a couple interesting garage sales but had to stop at an ATM for some cash. Balance check shows less than $10 in the account. Called wife at work to ask what’s up- She says “It must be a mistake. There should be several hundred dollars in there”. There isn’t. Rained out and broke, I decided to give it up and head home for a lunch of leftovers. Got home with storms still raging, and halfway through lunch the power goes out.
Went back to bed.
Absolutely true story...

:banghead:

12. well I was laid off a few weeks ago so my health insurance ended
April 30. I have prescriptions I need to take daily, and that I usually refill around the 1st or 2nd.

Well, my last employer couldn't get the paperwork going for the COBRA until I actually left, so I finally got my letter on the 6th and then mailed them a check on the 7th. They didn't ofter any other way of getting the payment faster. Yesterday I asked for the prescriptions to be refilled- called this morning and they were filled, but no insurance yet. So the total is over $1000.

This morning I called the pharmacy, my employer, the insurance company, and the company that manages the COBRA and I was just about yelling. Finally I got somebody to call somebody and push it through. Tomorrow I am hoping to get all those prescriptions for around $120.

I saw this coming a month ago, and there wasn't a damn thing I could do about it. Today I had a couple of people tell me "sometimes these things take a few weeks".... The check has already cleared and May is paid for... don't I deserve to get my prescriptions for May in the month of May?

:nopity:

34. I'm on COBRA now, too
My premium is $520 a month, but at least they turned it in and I didn't have a gap. I'm on daily meds, too, but I went with the mail-order program and ended up getting more for less money. Do you have that option?

36. I hopefully won't have a gap again
The insurance goes month by month- if I had left the job earlier in the month it wouldn't have been a problem. I guess they don't even think about the people who are using it for daily meds. Anyway I don't have a mail order program. My copay is really not that unreasonable, the drugs are just so damn expensive!

14. I got lost on the way to my interview and on the way back
The interview was in a different city, one that I had driven in before. I have been in the car a view times driving in this city before, but never to this particuliar location. My printer isn't working so I copied the mapquest directions. The interviewer also gave me directions with landmarks to look for. While I was driving there, the paper with my directions had shifted but I remembered the interviewers directions and ended up lost after I had been so close. Luckily, the nice convience store clerk and customer gave me accurate directions and I drove 5 miles through town to the correct location. When I mentioned getting lost to the interviewer, he said that he realized that he gave everyone the wrong directions who was interviewing for today. The business is a new branch of a corporation and he is from out of the area. Luckily I had allowed extra time anyway.
I got lost after the interview. I hadn't managed to look up directions for the return trip. I figured that it would be as easy as going back the way that I came. The highway wasn't really set up that way though. I ended up out in the middle of nowhere before finding the highway. Then I ended up driving in the opposite direction for 20 miles before realizing that I was obviously not heading home. Luckily, I did figure it out and got home safely.
I really hate long drives though and I am really bad at directions.

20. My day.
Had a conference to attend this afternoon and couldn't get the morning off. Overslept because my dog is on prednisone and hungry ALL THE TIME and woke me up twice last night because she wanted me to accompany her to her food bowl; couldn't ignore her because aforementioned prednisone also makes her pee a lot. No time to blowdry hair this morning so I look like exactly like Keanu Reeves in Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey, only 50 years old, female, and fat. Late getting out of work, late to the conference. Got there and found no parking places, had to park in hotel parking lot with threatening signs all around. Found out my employer did not send the $210 check for my registration.

The good news: I have money in my checking account so I could pay the registration with my debit card. My van did not get towed. I stayed awake the whole afternoon and got some continuing ed credits. Hopefully my employer will pony up the money and reimburse me.

I've had worse Friday the 13ths, but this one had the potential to be seriously pissy.
