If one of my brother's had pulled that crap on me, I'd be inclined to hie myself off to Archie McPhee's for some realistic looking 'joke money' with the phone message blanks on the back or something. a home depot type store and buy a door alarm. They are cheap. They hang on the knob of your door. When someone opens the door (if the alarm is set) a high pitched siren goes off scaring the H E double L out of the perp... It will pull you out of your sleep in a rude way, too, but the price is worth it.

And, you have the evidence of the alarm going off to show your parents that you REALLY DO NEED that lock on your door. :evilgrin:

My brother was like that. Mean as the day is long, always trying to screw me or the family. Stole my father's Lionel train set and other antiques and sold them. Wrecked the family car into a house, shearing off a gas service and evacuating the neighborhood. Drunk. Drug user.

He is now...somewhere...with an alcohol addiction and Hep C. LAst time I tried to help him, I literally took him off the streets of Newark NJ, where he was living, and put him into rehab and social service linkages. He screwed me after that, too. Quite meanly. Quite devastatingly, too.

My parents last years of their life were spent wondering where he was. He never came to see them. He was making as much as $100K/yr at the time. He made it out quite nicely, avec truck, to get his cut of my family's belongings, when my mother died. Took the cream, too.

You are not going to change him, so you have to lay down some hard boundries. Get your parents to back you, too. Don't take his crap and don't try to compromise. I did, it did not serve me very well.

Some people won't learn.

So stop trying to slip coins in my slots.
