Poll question: square feet of your home and how do you heat it?
what is the square footage of your home and how do you heat it?
I come in somewhere around 1000' and we heat with gas, cook with it too. I found it to be pretty expensive this winter, but it burns better and cleaner than oil.

7. 1200 sq', San Diego. Never lit my heater in 6 years here.
When its gets cold here(45-50), we just put on our sweaters. One of the perks of living in SoCal.

10. 180 sq ft and I keep my server and workstation computer on 24/7.
Nice and toasty.

I hate the summers though.

13. My (Maine) parents and all my Maine siblings burn wood
My parent's house gets all its heat and hot water from wood (oil back up).

One brother has a passive solar home with central wood heat (oil back up) and wood cook-stove (that he uses a lot).

Another brother uses 2 standard wood-stoves to heat his home.

The other has only one wood-stove stove.

My current abode has an electric heat pump that's used maybe 10 nights a year for heat (mostly used for AC in the summer). It has a "decorative" fireplace that I never use (inefficient, dirty) but I have a supply of petrochemical firelogs on hand for emergencies...

14. About 800 square foot, wood
We do have a space heater that we run as a backup since we're both away during the day. It keeps the house from being too cold, then we light a fire at night. Since we're in the California Bay Area, it never gets overly cold anyway (used to live in Vermont, in a large old farmhouse which took about 10 to 15 cord of wood to heat).

15. Well, me and my husband are certainly the energy hogs here:

Our home is 4200 square feet, and we heat/cool with natural gas. It is VERY well insulated, roof, walls and floors and we open up and use the breeze whenever possible...flame away...custom house, BTW.
Forgot to add that the poll didn't cover our house...
