Books- A universal truth (as revealed by Opus the penguin)
This Berkley Breathed dude seems to have a small amount of talent, and quite a quirky sensahuma, if you were to ask me. And you will.

2. No idea who she is.
He keeps up with the political silliness- she's no doubt been in the news or close to it recently.

5. My guess, since the date on that comic was Mothers' Day, is that is
Breathed's Mom.

8. Raised an alligator in the bathtub of his dorm room at U Texas
so the legend goes. He got in trouble for releasing it in Town Lake.

No idea if it's true, but it's common lore in Austin. Funny guy. Writes great comics, too.

17. Dizzy and lightheaded!
My 12 year old daughter is having a sleepover for her birthday. Ten eleven and twelve year olds! And they are about to get hungry again, I suspect.

Although I did just discover that my daughter is a good dancer. Don't know how I never noticed before.

23. I can believe that ten 11 and 12 year olds would make you dizzy and
lightheaded! That's a lot of chattering and giggling and so on! It's very educational to see your child doing stuff away from your influence, but still under your nose...She's totally involved (I suspect) with her girlfriends...Hope you all get some sleep tonight!

:pals:

21. There used to be a Christmas opus
who had fake antlers on with christmas balls hanging from them. That was before he took the sabatical. I hunted everywhere for it and never did find one oh so many years ago. I assume there are no more on the market.

24. How bad do you want one?
Always search Ebay.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=63654&item=5974315303&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW

(if that doesn't work, just search "Christmas Opus" from the home page.)

10. He was even better when he did Bloom County
Which also featured Opus, Bill the Cat, Steve Dallas, and a host of others. It was a lot more political too.

I took a friend of mine to a tattoo shop 20 years ago to get Bill the Cat tatooed on his arm!

13. I love Berkeley Breathed's Opus!
The LA Times just recently (a few months ago) added him to the Sunday comics, and I'm really happy to read it...I save him and Doonesbury for last...the best for last, you know!

15. I loved Bloom County
Is Bloom County the same as Outland the same as Opus? Are there the same characters? I see some of the same characters but I haven't been following the progression.

18. Outland was a post-Bloom County experiment.
It never really took hold-- "Opus" is the next step. One or two Bloom County characters are in it-- most notable are Bill The Cat and Steve Dallas (now in his fifties and finally COMPLETELY brain-fried).

16. What Opus said!
I'm not going to say that all digital forms of literature should be discounted, but we all know there is just some wonderful thing about holding a novel in your hand.
