For a species that is mortal, why do we fear the following:
* change in routine
* injustice
* hatred
* death


If we were immortal, would we be more inclined to help other people? Instead of living like selfish pricks, out to better ourselves at the cost of our fellow humans?

Actually, that's a good question. I think it would help. But it isn't just fear of death that makes people jerks. It is also fear of rejection, pain, suffering, etc.
