MUST READ: Funky WInkerbean, Landmines: Like Terrorism in Slow Motion
http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/fun/funky.asp

Thank you Tom Batiuk for this great arc you have in your comic strip. Today's was especially poignant for this discussion of Landmines and the horrors they create. I love the quote that your character Becky makes about Landmines:

It's kinda like terrorism in slow motion

Make sure you go back a few days to catch all of the strips in the series

2. I like the way
Funky Winkerbean has evolved in recent years, since the group of kids left high school and entered the real world. He's dealt with important life issues, like alcoholism, divorce, post-traumatic stress. Great strip.

4. Batiuk is also co-writer for "Crankshaft"
Crankshaft's a grouchy old school bus driver. In 2000 he accompanied his daughter & son-in-law when they took the kids to visit their old alma mater.

It was Kent State; Batiuk & Ayers are also alumni.
