Are we depressed because perpetual fury is just too tiring?
And to get it out of the way immediately, this has nothing to do with recent Lounge dramatics. The perpetual fury in question is of course regarding the theft of our country by evil corporate swine, pharisees, and the rest of these shitweasels, aided and abetted by the spineless bought-and-sold news media. I myself want to revolve back towards the perpetual fury end of the spectrum. (Could you tell?)

If you're not depressed, I'm very, very happy for you. This thread isn't aimed at you (though you're still welcome). I've been here for roughly half of forever and I'm pretty sure there's a very high percentage of Loungians suffering chronic, clinical or at least occasional depression.

I'll be trying to evaporate some depression for the balance of the evening by going to see Robert Earl Keen, so (assuming there are any replies) don't expect anything further from me on this before morning.

So whatchathink?

1. I understand that one of the best cures for depression is exercise
AND WALKING, or MARCHING is an exercise that everyone from eight to eighty can enjoy.

Summer is coming on, it is time to hit the streets, I guess.

Christ, I never thought I would see dangerous days like this again. I really didn't. I guess it's time to dig out the ole tie dye, grab a sign, and go!

3. I talked to my doctor against my budget's wishes
this past month and he gave me a sample of Zoloft. I feel much better now, but the fury against what that bunch is doing to our country is still there. Only difference is, now I am less depressed and more able to think of ways to get back at them. Like right now. I am trying to figure out how to get a prescription to this medication filled. A one month supply is $92.00 and I do not know where that much money will come from or how I will get it.

7. If your income is less than 18.000 the company will give you them free.
Its a good one Zoloft. Has sexual side effects and it mixes terribly with all other drugs and esp alcohol.

be sure not to drink.

be sure not to skip a dose

try to get them free.

you will probably need to increase the dose soon so watch mood

10. Thanks for the info.
I quit drinking years ago, except on New Year's Eve, and only a little then. This is actually the first antidepressant I have found in 20 years of suffering from depression that actually works on me. I could probably live with the sexual side effects. I haven't noticed any yet, but have only been on it for a couple of weeks now. I started with 25 mg and moved up to 50 after the first week. I have noticed grogginess, but that could be because I am on a daytime schedule after 10 years of being a night owl.

9. Yes. I'd like the info.
Is www.freemedicineprogram.com a real organization? My mother recommended that, but has never tried it herself. I want to be sure before I send my personal info off to the wrong place. I don't want to learn the hard way, but any info you have will be greatly appreciated. Thanks for offering. Please pm me. I'd love any help I can get. It's awfully expensive.

13. No it comes directly from the manufacturer.
Your doctor should know about it.

If not do this:

1)Call the company that makes Zoloft. Tell them you are poor and need Zoloft and want the form. My form says Pateint Assistance form (different company and drug, but all of the anti-depressant companies do it.)
They should fax it to your doctor.

You have to fill it in and they send to your doctor 3 months supply. BE SURE TO GET ENOUGH.. in 3 months your dose will need to go up most likely.

4. The FURY is righteous indignation and it can either go in or out.
If you put it in yourself, you can make yourself sick. The only healthy thing to do with it is use it to make an effort. Any effort. Simply helping the cause by either spreading the message online, writing the editor of the NYTimes, just telling a neighbor about the latest news. I like making Art. Any type of political related thing you can do acts as a balm against depression.

16. Great show! Who knew there were hundreds of REK fans in Cola SC?
We kind of figured we'd be there with ourselves and a few dozen aging folkies. Instead it was like a frat party, except that the kids actually knew all the words to the songs. Pretty neat, except for the cigarette smoke; I have to burn my clothes!:P

19. He did very few songs I knew, but it was still a great time
I was surprised when he didn't do "Gringo Honeymoon" nor either of his Christmas songs, was surprised and delighted when he covered "4th of July" by X, and was very pleased to find after the show that my ears weren't ringing, a chronic problem with club shows. A good time was had by all.

11. Depressed and pissed off is a bad combo.
We're depressed because it is very draining to sustain a constant level of low-grade rage at what has happened to our country.

Funny, but the people who voted for these jackasses are also depressed and angry, but they just don't realize it. They walk around continuously pissed off, especially at us evil libruls, but yet we're currently powerless.

They just haven't figured out the source of their constant state of rage. We have, unfortunatley.

15. Perpetual fury is what keeps me from procrastination when dealing with
Dem meetings, DFA meetups, plus it is a shot in the arm for depression to know that one is not alone in the real world! When I met progmom for lunch, it was a boost. :hi:
