Want a DU star but can't afford to donate? Say the pledge

I (state your screenname) being of sound virtual mind and body, do more or less solemnly swear that I really, really, really want a DU star, that my enjoyment of this joint is significantly hindered by my inability to search the site and/or to reach the archives, that I really can't afford to donate right now, and that I will stick around for at least the next three months and post like a mofo during that period. Furthermore, I am not a low-down, stinky or otherwise cretinous freeper troll, nor any other kind of right-winger or disruptor. So help me Big Dog.

I've donated a few times in the past anonymously and the people I donated for tended to disappear. (One of them from a year or so back did reappear recently, which was neat, but still.) I posted a similar pledge two fund drives ago and it was very successful, right down to the very excellent DUer Krazy Kat backing me up and giving out a star as well.

If you'd feel foolish cutting and pasting all of the above, just put "I swear" in your subject line and I'll get the idea. I'll be giving out two stars; if other folks want to chime in and also donate for somebody, that would be nice, too.

Oh, and if you don't feel comfortable admitting publicly that you can't afford to donate, feel free to PM me.

This ss only family can't afford fast food. Where ya been livin'? I've been here since 2002, and still can't eke out a donation. I think it's great that there are people donating stars. This wonderful place has a lot of heart. You good 'uns keep on keepin' on!!!!
