Got a question about mp3 file conversion... anyone know how...
I can convert music I have on CD to mp3 files?

I'm assuming there's an expensive conversion program somewhere but is there such a thing as a free/shareware one?

Thank you

1. This is assuming you have a cd burner in your computer....
...assuming you have a cd-r cd-rw drive in your computer already, Itunes is free and can do it for you. If you have the burner in your computer and you load i-tunes, all you need to do is insert a cd, itunes will pull up the track and album names (assuming you are connected to the internet) and you hit "import" and it does it for you in about 2-3 minutes depending on your computer speed.

2. If you're using XP
Media player 10 will do it.
There is a "rip" tab.
Double check the titles, tho... it screwed up some of the Velvet Underground box set I recently converted.

3. I use FreeRip.
It's quite easy to use. And Zinf is a great MP3 player for your PC.

Just google for FreeRip and Zinf to find a place to download the programs.

4. You need a ripper.
This is the one I use; it's the best I've found.

And here's a guide on setting it up... http://www.cd-rw.org/articles/archive/eac_and_lame_setup_guide.cfm

Hope that helps.
