11. Uh, I didn't go on the scenic tour! One leg of my return trip was...
spent in first class. I flew from California to Texas military stand-by and a Stewardess asked a gentleman in first class if he minded if I sat in the empty seat beside him. His only Son was serving in VietNam at the time. The drinks were on him! :)

9. Why is it all about planes?
I have traveled farther by car than I have by plane. And since 9/11, I have not flown even once. Don't care to, either. I'm not scared of terrorists, I just won't subject myself to what they do to you to get on the damn bird.

Judging by the state of the airlines, a lot of folks feel this way.

It's just a convenient way of expressing the distance.

Fine with me if you got there by tramp steamer. Just would like an estimate of how long it would take on a commercial flight.
