Reports: Letourneau, Fualaau to Wed Friday
Mary Kay Letourneau and her former sixth-grade pupil — the father of her two youngest children — will be married Friday night, "Entertainment Tonight" and "The Insider" reported Thursday.

Tents were being set up Thursday afternoon for the ceremony in a secluded spot in King County, according to the television programs, which obtained exclusive rights to cover the event.

A rehearsal dinner for bridesmaids, groomsmen and relatives was planned Thursday.

8. Hey, I grew up with her!
I'm 47, and I grew in San Clemente, Calif. in the 60's/70's (great times). Hobie Alter (SurferDude) was around, etc.

My dad wanted attention, so he became involved in local Republican politics (remember, this was ORANGE COUNTY, Ca.). He even flirted with the John Birch Society. Outwardly, he was a conservative. At home, he was as socially liberal as they come (what he said to us).

Anyway, we would go to all these barbeques, etc. (fundraising events). Mary's dad was our Congressman (Schmitz). He seemed to be busy making 'googley eyes' at all of the wives (including my mom), while his patient Stepford wife was nearby (at least seeming not to pay attention).

I always thought they were hypocrites, and my dad just laughed when I joined rallies and protests as a teenager, shocking his friends. Well, everyone was shocked when there was a big public to-do about one of Schmitz's girlfriends - who was accused of abusing her kids (fathered by Schmitz).

Then we all grew up ... and we know how Mary's life turned out.

15. I wonder about her relationship with her dad.
Something is truly off-kilter in that woman. I hope she eventually finds what she needs in life.

he used to reportedly refer to her as 'Cake.' (Let's just say that that sounds right to me.)

Let's just say that the family creeped me out just a bit.

Typically of the area conservatives, though. They seemed determined to have two lives - the public one (model "Christian" family) and the private one (affairs, substance abuse, etc.). Schmitz used to proudly identify himself as a model Catholic (not that my Catholic friends liked that).

19. Ew. That's creepy.
That's a pretty fair characterization of the Orange County conservative schema.

How sad for everyone. So much better to live an authentic life. That kind of dynamic is toughest on women, I think.

She probably really needed to be involved with a man she can control completely, so she feels safe. I guess that will last for a few years, but as he gets older, it's going to be tough going for them.

26. Yep. And I worry about her first set of kids.
That would be quite a shock - growing up with Mom and Dad. Suddenly (to you), Mom goes nutty. Then, again suddenly, you can't see her anymore because of a temp. custody order (that becomes permanent). Dad gets a new girl, marries her, you and your brothers and sisters are all up in Alaska (Mom BAD, Dad good). And if you're one of the first four, quickly you have two half-siblings that you don't even get to see.

Mary's young life was a three-ring circus, and so's her adult life. May they find peace - everyone involved (I know, this retired social worker probably shouldn't feel that way - but sometimes you just wish people peace).

MY life was a three-ring circus ... but that's another story.

Lucky I met my significant other (Hubby) when I was 18. I went off and have had a successful, loving, peaceful life. Of course, I essentially had stop talking to my parents (it's sad ... but I have kept contact minimal). I'm good buddies with my sister, though.

See, many of those conservative Rethugs were substance abusers to the maximum. Many were addicted to sexual liasons and parties.

23. You know what ... I would love it if you could come visit your favorite
winery on Mem Day Weekend.

I miss those days (SoCal was a great place to grow up in the late-60's/70's).

My grammie used to rail against 'hippies.' She used to say, 'I can't tell if that's a guy or a girl.' I would always get in trouble because I would say, 'I can.' It was great.

Wasn't there a Cecil Hol*** (something like that)?

4. You know I NEVER get enough of this touching story
Of statutory rape. I wish it could go on and on. Maybe Mary Kay will get cold feet? Or CBS will film the nuptials and broadcast it in a two-hour prime time sweeps special? Oh, the possibilities are endless!

7. If Mary Kay takes a trip and the two kids disappear ...
... the media will be in an all-out orgasm. Imagine. Amber Alert and Runaway Bride on top of the scandal of teacher/student sexual abuse! Can we say "Pulitzer"? (Well, maybe not that -- but dollars and viewership, for sure.)

I thought it was supposed to happen last month. I had hoped that people just got wise and stopped writing stories about it. Guess we're gonna see a lot of this in the "press" this weekend. :eyes:

14. Or less.
I think the end of the publicity and notoriety will force them to learn about each other, really get to know each other. When the "forbidden love" thing has worn off, thier need for attention will break them apart.

21. "Entertainment Tonight" has been beating this one to death.
What a fucking Moronic show hosted by that repulsive airhead Mary Hart!

They have been showing tender segments about the cute couple and how Mary Kay is misunderstood. Kind of like a fairey tale romance! :puke:

She was/is a pedohile who molested a 12 yr old boy when she was his teacher! Cant they figure that out?

ET is geared for less than gifted american sheeple!

30. ET has hit the bottom of the cesspool on this.
They've always been disgusting slimey whores, but to publicize the marriage of a convicted pedophile to her victim is beyond human comprehension.
They even refer to the event as "Her Special Day."

Makes me ill.

28. Like I said ... I knew Mary growing up ..
her life was a three-ring circus then, is now, and, you're right, will continue to be. It's just the way it is. Believe it or not, I pray for peace for everyone concerned.
