Has anyone had success with this technique?

Are there tricks for making it stand out?

1. Monster.com is perhaps the most well known site

I know that my company uses it as a resource, and plenty of others do too. I've had my resume on there for a while (not that I'm looking for another job, but it always pays to keep a foot out there) and I know that employers are looking at it. I occasionally get a call from a headhunter or an interested party. It's a well-known site and is very well-used by a lot of HR departments.

One good trick is to respond directly to the employer's e-mail addy rather than using the Monster.com submission engine. Attach your resume as a word doc. with a nice cover letter. I've gotten several interviews that way.

2. i get calls about every 2 weeks

even tho i'm working, i'm always looking for a better deal.

monster.com, yahoo hotjobs, careerbuilder, dice (technical). there might be some sites that are tailored to your expertise. also your local unemployment might have a website.

i'd advise that you list your qualifications at the top of your resume, so that a recruiter can quickly scan it to see if you have what they're looking for.

also, send resumes to every temp agency in town. they get paid to put people in jobs, they'll work for you.

keep looking and looking for resources. i was out of work for awhile, as i spent alot of time looking, i kept find new sites and place to inquire about work.

good luck.

5. also,
and i hope it doesn't take you long to find work, but slightly reword and repost the resume from time to time so more people see it. they use a word search engine so those keywords in the summary are importants.

i was able to use the unemployment centers database even tho i wasn't getting unemployment money. found a short term job there. take your resume/portfolio with you everywhere you go. fax cover sheets with your name and number on it, too.

heh, i was out of work for a year and a half, i learned alot of tricks.
