KitchenWitch's Stupid Question O' the day #62
How can there be a classic interleague rivalry between the Detroit Tigers and the Arizona Diamondbacks when the Snakes have only been in existence for 8 years?

1. No...I don't think that's such a stupid question
This is another reason I don't watch sports... :)

3. I am a baseball fanatic
And on Baseball Tonight (ESPN) they were talking about the "classic interleague rivalry" between the D-Backs and the Tigers.

I was like :wtf:

6. I guess if they can sex it up they'll get more viewers?
Sports chatter or whatever they call the mindless and inane commentary that seems to drone on through most televised sporting events makes me crazy.

2. This is one of the glitches in the interleague thing.
All of the old time teams that could be matched up with Detroit are involved in more important classic rivalries at this point in time.

P.S.-- The Only Stupid Questions Are The Ones That Aren't Asked.

5. True enough
but for those idiots at ESPN to infer that there is a "classic" rivalry is just stupid (and not in the good way)

7. They may have been being sarcastic.
In reality, most of the series going on this week are "rivalries" in a geographic sense, e.g., Cubs/Sox, Cards/Royals, Dodgers/Angels, etc.

8. Sports announcers ...

... writers, reporters, etc. in this modern age are idiots.

They say any damn thing that comes across their desk -- and it does come across their desk -- without thinking about it at all.

I heard some idiot say the other day that the Cubs' natural rival was the Brewers. Oh really? Had this person ever even heard of St. Louis or the Mets?
