...Resnick's arrest followed a strange series of events Feb. 17, according to police reports. While Resnick was driving to court in Oxford, her Suzuki sport utility vehicle ran out of gas. She abandoned the car and tried to hitch a ride to court.
When police arrived, they found a man in the driver's seat. He fled after an officer asked for identification, and police towed the car.
A search of the car turned up a change purse containing a straw and an envelope with cocaine. More cocaine was found in a makeup bag.
Resnick is well known at the Cuyahoga County Justice Center, where she maintains a busy criminal defense practice. A Republican, she was a candidate for Common Pleas judge in 1992 and has been nominated for appointment to judicial seats at other times. She ran unsuccessfully for clerk of courts in 1988...
