What can you tell me about the weather in Canada. We're thinking
of moving. My husband said, "if it wasn't sooo cold all the time."

My thoughts are that if you're talking about the Niagra Falls area, how different could it be from NY?

How about housing costs? Where can I find out? In the States, I can go to realtor.com and find listing for anywhere, but I don't think it covers Canada. Does Canada have a similar listing site of homes for sale?

1. Some friends & I were just having this conversation yesterday...
I took the "qualifying" test right after the (S)election. Fortunately I had enough points (you need to have a certain number). I then contacted an attorney. The whole thing was only going to cost around 1,500-$2,000. There's not as much involved as I thought IF you have some kind of skill that's needed (I have a B.A. and have taught in a public school arena). I've kind of let it go for now. I don't even remember who I spoke with or how I got to the test (I probably googled it). I was looking at Van Couver which isn't horribly cold. I don't know anything about the housing market or the job opportunities. Good luck! :-)

2. Plant Growing-zone charts give a good idea of how cold it gets.
A lot of the Canuckistan coastal areas aren't all that harsh--Zone 7 or 8.

Of course when you go inland it can be pretty brutal at wintertime. Then again, there are sickos (like yours truly) who've been known to actually fly from our home in GA to go XC skiing in Ottawa, in Feb.

4. Canadian weather isn't much different than New England
And the upper midwest. You probably don't want to move to Saskatchewan or Manitoba, but the East is fairly temperate and the west coast has great weather, apart from a lot of rain.

Housing is relatively cheap. The problem is, you get paid in Canadian dollars. If you sell your house here, you can probably buy more house there for the same money.
