2. his bizarro earth sketch about reagan is eerlily relevant today
flashback to Bizarro President appointing his Cabinet ]

Bizarro President: For Secretary of Interior, man who likes strip-mining and air pollution. For Secretary of Education, man who want to destroy department. For Secretary of State, scary man with morals of a styrofoam cup..

< blend back to the present-day >

Black House Aide #2: Him am incredible! Bizarro Americans all love him!

Black House Aide #1: Of course.

Bizarro President: < waking up > Me right-to-lifer, so me support the death penalty!

Black House Aide #1: It's that kind of statement that has made him the darling of the Bizarro empire.

Black House Aide #2: What a guy! Him smart! Say, me hungry.. let's go eat some rocks!

Black House Aide #1: What a bad idea.

4. i gues neither of you have seen the special?
it sounds pretty interesting. it has the original snl cast in it, along with deborah harry and sid visious, among others.

it's surprising that such a possible cult item hasn't been reissued on vhs or dvd since the early 80s.

6. I loved his sensibility.
O'Donoghue was the last great subversive to get on US network television. He was devastatingly good; what a cruel loss.

Tina Fey is to O'Donoghue as the Whizzinator is to John Holmes.

7. amen-fey sucks and has ruined the show
it blows my mind how people keep saying "the show sucks, but she's funny"

she the head writer. she's responsible for the horrid content. And, thanks to her prominance on update, she has too much power. In the old days, they fired mediocre writers. That cant happen now, and the show continues to descend into new los of homophobic sketches and bad mtv parodies.

9. Wrote for National Lampoon for many years b/4 SNL.
Back when it was still funny, before it became the frat boy franchise.

11. Saw a tape of
Mr. Mike's Mondo Video years ago. Quite bizarre and very funny in O'Donoghue's sick sort of way. I too first discovered him when he wrote for the real National Lampoon.

Somewhere I read a great quote from MO'D His father called and told him that his mother had lost a finger in an accident. MO'D asked "Have you looked behind the refrigerator?"

Ever since, I've wished someone would ask me if I have found Jeebus just so I could answer "No, but I haven't looked behind the refrigerator."
