How much of a Star Wars nerd are you?
Rules: post obscure SW trivia here. The person who answers the most correctly will be granted the title of DU STAR WARS NERD!!! If you answer a question correctly, you may then post your own.

I'll start. At the end of the Special Edition of ROTJ and at the end of TPM, you can here someone in the crowd shouting "Son of the Suns!" Where does this come from and what does it mean?

1. Hey your playing
Edited on Thu May-26-05 06:29 PM by fujiyama
with SE versions. Any die hard Star Wars purist knows that those versions are blasphemy! ;)

BTW, I just recently d/led the bootleg of the Laserdisc rip (damn 4 gig file!). It sure beats the VHS version and the nice thing is it's the original film.

Too bad Lucas just won't release the old versions as well.

2. It refers to Luke...
because he grew up on Tatoone. Some people say it refers to Anikan, however, who was born there.

It comes from a Sith writing that talks about the "son of suns" killing the apprentice who kills the master. (Luke kills Vader, who killed Sidious)

7. Chewbacca died on the moon of the planet sernpidal
Chewbacca died when a Yuuzhan Vong weapon caused the moon to crash into the planet. This was in the book Vector Prime.

4. I know that technically I haven't answered a post yet
but still, here's my question:

How many people went looking for Shmi Lars after she was kidnapped and how many were killed as a result?

Cleigg lost half his leg when the Tusken Raiders set up a trip wire. He flew through it on his swoop bike slicing off his leg from the knee down.

9. Did Palpatine have some grand design in Padme's death?
Edited on Thu May-26-05 08:12 PM by nytemare
He knew all along, I am wondering if he had a hand in it, because the medical droids couldn't find a physical reason for her dying. I am wonderinf if Palpatine did it to exploit the pain Vader would be feeling.

13. I think the Emperor is my new favorite character
He was a clever dude. The evil ones make more interesting characters.

16. He played the role out very well
With psychological depth. Creepy dude.

When Episode 1 came out, I was startled to relize it was the same actor. I never realized at my young age watching Return of the Jedi that under all the makeup was someone in their mid 30's.

18. Palpatine has always been my favorite Star Wars character...
even when I saw him in Return Of the Jedi. Yet in real life I can't stand people like that and I call them a whole host of names, but in the the movies they are always so interesting, and I find myself very atractive to that character, maybe it's the cleverness of the character,I don't know:crazy:

19. In the movies, I root for the good guys, but think the bad ones interest
me more.

I find reading about Hitler extremely interesting, for example. That type of evil astounds me, and I wonder how people could follow such evilness. But, I favored those who were against him. I like reading of Anne Frank, Viktor Frankl..those normal folks who had to deal with such awful situations.

Back on Star Wars, I liked how Ep.3 worked out all the layers of Palpatine's character. His evil was very patient and calculating, with a psychological depth.

I think Rove and Cheney are the Emperor.

17. All of you people are seriously scaring me
I mean, for real, to know SO MUCH about the Star Wars mythos is just... it's just freaking frightening.

I guess it could be worse. You could all be a bunch of crystal meth addicts and have bloodshot, glazed eyes and snot running from your noses. But still... this is just unbelievable.

(In a way, I secretly admire you. May the Force Be With You All.)
