and last season's theme of businessmen manufacturing a war for profit seemed particularly resonant---and i know, putting that in fiction could have the effect of dampening arguments for something like that happening in reality.

but i have to draw the line somewhere with what i will and won't allow myself to enjoy.

on edit: i'm not implying that you don't let yourself enjoy anything. i'm just speaking for myself here. i let my politics interfere with many other things. just not this one.

me, I can't suspend my disbelief long enuff to enjoy it. I keep thinking this stuff can't POSSIBLY happen in just 24 hours, and then it's ruined.

I don't think 24 is propaganda. Now "Threat Matrix" - THAT's propaganda. I'll bet if the WH knew what 24 was suggesting, they'd want it off the air. But who knows....maybe with the new season, we'll see a shift that could be similar to what's happened with The West Wing. I sure as hell hope not though! If they've gone soft, I'm definitely tuning out - Kiefer or not!

13. Yeah, I think folks who assume 24 is propaganda...

Need to watch it... It is usually very pointed in its message, often paralleling the corruption or conspiracy theories that pervade the Bushie's actions....

I'd never watch Threat Matrix, given what I've read.. But I think 24 has some politically active leftist writers. But beyond that, the action is so fast and furious (and thus so far fetched) it is hard to take it as much more than a tv drama. Those of us who ache for a real President, see one portrayed on 24 and it is nice to see some competence displayed.... (we can dream, right?)

15. They went ridiculous with the daughter, especially last season...

But, they've listened to the criticism apparently. I don't think she's going to go through a new life-threatening crisis each week and ridicuous side plot twists like last year...
