"Patriotic" morans
So today I saw one that really made me scratch my head and say :wtf:

Some lady comes through the store where I work. She's wearing flip flops with a red, white and blue, stars and stripes design on them. I'm sure she thinks of herself as being ultra patriotic because of this but all it says to me is that she's WALKING ON THE FLAG!!!???

Some people are so clueless......

1. They probably came from Old Navy.
I saw a pair of men's swimming trunks there the other day with a flag motif right across the package area. I also saw flag bikinis - flag tops, flag bottoms.

Needless to say, I didn't buy any of them.

My husband takes the flag very seriously, and he doesn't like to see it on anyone's rump. He also hates the flag bugshields I see on trucks everywhere. Using the flag to catch bug guts???

2. I would draw the line at wearing clothing made from a flag...
(a la Larry Flynt) but is any combination of stars and stripes off limits?

3. I don't feel it is
Though some would. These were very much the flag design however and that made me uncomfortable. Particularly considering where they were (being trampled on, so to speak).

I have a tie that is red, white and blue and it's one of my favorites. It's not really a flag design though, it's just the colors.

5. But I could respect why Larry Flynt did it.
He did it to make a point-to prove that our country was literally shitting on The Constitution and all that it stood for (and he used the flag as a visual image). The people that most of us are referring to use it as a form of fashion. To me that is repulsive.

6. you know what - i totally agree with you - it was a bad example on my part

Just saw the movie and it was what sprang to mind.

I don't even know why I am arguing this point - I find all the flag fashion totally tacky.

7. No worries on my side.
It is an interesting image that stays in your mind for a long time afterward. And I do find the flag fashion to be much more offensive than a former soldier wearing the flag as a diaper to protest the interpretation of the Constitution. IMO, he served his country. He can do whatever he feels necessary to the flag.
Freepers, OTOH, sat on their lazy asses at home and played armchair quarterback. They have no right to drape the symbol of freedom and of sacrifice across their fat behinds.

When they fight for this country and they sacrifice for this country, then they can do whatever they want to the symbol that they helped to uphold. Until then...

9. I saw a creature today covered in red, while and blue features...
her jacket was made from them and she was talking about how if she was 20 years younger she would be fighting in iraq...
and I was at the zoo to see the animals that were IN cages. They were a lot less frightening.

10. English yobbos are famed for wearing Union Flag boxer shorts
particularly when on holiday in Spain - the purpose of the holiday being to sit in English themed pubs and drink lots, watch English sports via satelitte television, moan to other English people about Spanish food (despite not eating any of it).

I agree - it's shocking unpatriotic.

You should have gone to her and politely request that she stop defacing the flag by removing her shoes and preferably burning them respectfully on the spot.
