Poll question: Deep Throat REVEALED! Were YOU right?
Edited on Tue May-31-05 05:29 PM by CubsFan1982
I didn't really engage in the speculation, but I was kinda surprised when they announced Felt was Deep Throat. I hadn't really heard of the guy, and I thought it would've been someone actually in the White House. Who did you think it was?

9. G.H.W. Bush...
Has had a hand in some of everything. I've always suspected
him. Cant stand the way he plays up that innocent
grandfatherly image. So phony.

4. For a while I thought it might be Pat Buchanan...
...but then I read that he denied it. No matter how much you disagree with him, you have to admit, he would never lie about that.

7. Let me hear it from Woodward

8. Woodward and Bernstein confirmed it.

"In a statement issued later, Watergate reporters Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein said, "W. Mark Felt was 'Deep Throat' and helped us immeasurably in our Watergate coverage. However, as the record shows, many other sources and officials assisted us and other reporters for the hundreds of stories that were written in The Washington Post about Watergate.""

13. OMG......it's true!
I'm a little let down as I do not know this fella. He sure was brave, I do know that. I guess we will hear a lot more about the
"Man behind the voice" this week.

Thank you for the update. I just got in from work and missed all the early excitement.

20. No problem.
I guess they all came forward since he decided it was time. From what I understand he had a stroke a few years ago and has some memory problems.
I guess it was time for him to tell before he passed on.

6. I guessed wrong. I thought it might be one of the CIA's veteran --
-- government patriots -- the people who have for a long time worked to make sure the balance of power makes some sense (as opposed to the Dubya-era secret lying which compels intelligence to conform to political policy).

I thought it was one of those kinds of guys (or gals) feeding reporters info that would ostensibly damage Nixon but in the long run save the balance of power.

Plus, Nixon was a slobbering mess by that time and someone had to take the damn reins before the whole shitwagon wound up in the ditch.

CubsFan1982, I accuse you of consistently excellent and thoughtful posts on DU.

Years and years and years of buildup...and the name revealed was unfamiliar to me.

12. I was right yet I wasn't.
Someone else told me their suspicions many years ago. I had no idea. Back then I was actually hoping for someone like Kissinger. But once they explained a few things to me it made sense. So I went along w/ them.
Since I didn't originally believe that I wasn't right but since I believed it before today's revelations I was right.

I thought it was Bush...maybe wishful thinking on my part, I donno. I wanted a big name though, I'm a bit disappointed. All I'm sayin' is that when we all learn the real truth about the JFK assassination I want to hear about some big names behind that dammit! :P
