Do you have dental insurance?
Edited on Thu Jun-02-05 09:19 PM by valis
I know, you could say it's none of my biz. But I suspect it's the last thing people think of. It pisses me off it's not part of health insurance. Totally non-rational.

1. I have a long story about that...
It is totally fucked that it is not part of regular health insurance.

21. very brisk walking.
i've been doing that about 40 minutes a day 5-6 days a week since late winter. i feel good doing it and this weight's going to slowly come off.
and i drink plenty of water along with it. going to start free weights soon.

wine sounds nice. but i've got cold beer in the fridge. don't know if i want one or not.

25. yes it is!
that's one form of exercise i know i'll not get tired of. it's so good to clear your head of the stresses of the day. i tried jogging before and even when i was lighter i just couldn't keep it up. walking's another thing altogether. low impact and it's something i'm addicted to.

only by the skin of my teeth, however. I luckily landed a small office job that provided pretty realisitic health care.

I've had many periodontal problems, so I have to go every 3 months for serious cleaning, despite the fact I floss and clean obessively. It's just the way my teeth/gums are. Because of that, I decided to have double insurance, one from my employer, one from my wife's. If you get 3 or 4K of work done in one year (one root canal and one crown, are already in the 1.5-2Ks) it's definitely the way to go, if you can...

16. it's funny that my wife spend 1/3 of the time cleaning her teeth
and she has never had any teeth/gum problems... I suppose I have bad tooh genes :)

20. not sure
I know a friend of mine was brushing/flossing so much that he started taking off his tooth enamel, then of course leaving access to cavities and the like.
So I suppose it would have to do with ones genes.

Teeth can be very troublesome.

4. Nope... none of that here.
Gum surgery this past month, a root canal, and it cost us the five year savings for Disney for the kids.

Now I floss three times a day, and I make my whole family do it too... I want a vacation.... it's been fourteen years. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhgkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

10. Did you do the flap surgery? Where they slice off the upper segment of
your gums? I had that a couple of years ago. Not pleasant at all..

Not in the last few years. When I did I had all my silver amalgam
fillings removed and some crowns done.
The last few crowns I payed out of pocket was around 1800.00

17. Yes, that's what I meant. That dental is the last thing people take care
of. And it's a shame it's not included in health plans, especially when the doctor tells you that infections in the mouth can affect the entire circulatory system etc etc. WTF?

can't afford it. I have been going to the same dentist for 25 years. We were both young and he was just starting out. He gives me discounts and let's me pay out anything major.

32. I have medical that isn't worth a shit...
and no dental or vision care.

And pay about $130/month with my employer picking up 1/2.

Supposedly a $500 deductible, but in actuality around $1000/year.

Is that the norm these days?

33. I now have private dental insurance, shopped around
took awhile to find it.

For those that don't have dental insurance there are dental discount cards, last year mine saved me $2000 on a a almost $5,000 dental bill.

I had 4 wisdom teeth removed while sedated, one root canal, one filling replaced and six crowns( old fillings to started to go).

Most dentists take dental discount cards, ask your Dentist if she or he does, and which one. Saves a lot of money.

I found mine on the Internet.

34. Yes, but my kids don't.
All because I wanted them to see a pediatric dentist not covered by our network. Next open enrollment, I want to sign them up for the insurance.
