then there are days where it doesn't pay to answer the phone

first call and i learn my elderly mom's gentleman caller has liver cancer.

second call i learn my aunt has woken up suddenly blind in one eye.

third call and a family friend has died.

fourth call lets me know that my sons employer has docked $500 from his paycheck because a work van was broken into and tools were stolen worth $500 from the company (plus over $200 of my sons tools)

i am not answering the phone again today.

period.

and I am supplementing the ephemeral "bit beer" with some cold frothy wet ones. I do hope this is the end of the string of bad calls....
