How often do you clean your house?
Once a week? Twice a month?

Tell us your story.

BTW, I clean my place thoroughly about once a month (whether it needs it or not!)

1. Thorough cleaning every 3-4 weeks,
and general "picking up" daily. There are NO dishes in the sink when we go to bed. Clean sheets daily, except we only have 6 sets, so one set has to last 2 days.
It's not that we're particularly anal about the tidyness, but the parents of us both were, and I guess it rubs off. Anyway, clean IS better, right?

16. LOVE the way clean sheets feel!
Even if I was otherwise a slob, I think I would go with the fresh sheets thing.

2. OK, you're gonna think I'm a dork but . . .

before I moved to Switzerland, someone gave me one of those "Lonely Planet" travel books about Switzerland, and I remember reading that "Swiss women" clean their houses on Friday. (No mention of what day Swiss men clean their houses. ;) )So, to "fit in" with the culture, I began cleaning my house on Fridays, and I still do it that way. But the fact that we don't wear shoes inside the house makes the cleaning go a lot faster.

So, every Friday, and then a "deep cleaning" once a month.

7. I don't know about the US . . .
But nobody (that I know of) wears shoes in the house here. A lot of families keep these special over-size slippers for guests to wear. We don't take it that far, though.

13. I never wear shoes at home but it's the comfort thing
not the clean thing. I never wear shoes if I don't have to.

3. What is this "cleaning" to which you refer?
It sounds interesting. (I tend to let things slide)

4. you funny
I clean my house every three years when my mom visits whether it needs it or not. She knows this and sends out the warning beforehand, heh heh.

Seriously. You clean your house ONCE a month? Get a job, dude, time is obviously hanging on your hands. Yeh, my mom cleans house that often but she suffers from OCD!!!

:-)

8. Great idea!
My parents have never visited me here, but I think I'll just up cleaning, and if she ever _does_ visit, I'll move to a new, clean house just before she arrives.

6. How often?
Each member of this family cleans after him/herself every time and any time we create a mess. No maids in this house. Our house is always clean, ready for company, ready to be enjoyed by us, and we don't waste our time doing major clean ups. We got places to see and enjoy.

I do a thorough, major cleanup and promise myself to keep it looking nice. Little by little it goes to hell until I am so disgusted I am forced to do another major cleanup. I have learned that in a pinch, I can keep the bathroom and kitchen clean. I just don't have the cleaning gene and it's the best I can do.

14. All the freakin' time!
If I'm ever assimilated by the borg, I pray they retro-fit me with a vacuum cleaner. One dog, four cats, five foster guinea pigs, one hamster, various marine life, three children and one husband... I sweep, vacuum and mop repeatedly.
