Silly me.... it wasn't menopause, it's a fibroid
and it looks like the best option is a hysterectomy. Just what I wanted to spend my summer vacation doing -- recuperating. But then, if it solves the problems I've been having, it will be well worth it.

3. No..
None of the other options will really work for me. Waiting it out is the other viable option, but he said it will just get worse. I'd rather get it done now than wait until during the school year.

6. They don't always get worse
I've had them for years (15+) and they don't bother me as much as they once did. They are larger, but not as painful.

2. I had issues with fibroids a few years ago
I had problems from my teens with ovarian cysts and such, and things got much worse at the ripe old age of 29, fibroids. I went the hysterectomy route, still have one ovary, so no hormones. I am a much happier woman today!

4. That's what the doc said...
he said he's never heard a complaint about having it done from his patients. All say they are much happier. Yeah, I can see how not having crippling pain and "hemoragging" every month would make me a happy woman.

7. Absolutely
Every woman I've talked to who had a hysterectomy was much happier later.

I was 29, already had two kids and my tubes tied. The year before, they had gone in and scoped me because of pain, checking for endometriosis. They saw "pre-endometrial cells", but didn't want to take away over 20 years of future ovarian activity. I told them then that for all of the pain that ovarian activity caused me, they could end it. A year later, that's exactly what they did.
