5. I think I'd like to just drop my legal name, and use my nickname, Peggy.
Otherwise, I like my name....:hi:

13. The name itself is nice.
Unfortunately, my parents used it when they were mad at me, and thus spoiled it for all time! Plus the nickname business is a DRAG! I don't really feel like a Margaret...

I'll bet your daughter's name is nice, though...

14. It's my mother's middle name too.
Her father used to call her Susie Maggie, but no one else was allowed to. :)

11. The Hound of Ulster. Or Finn Mac Cool.
But since I don't live in Ireland, it wouldn't make a lot of sense.

Those are both cool; I especially like The Hound of Ulster! Sounds like something out of a Sherlock Holmes story.....

29. The Hound of Ulster is a semi-mythological figure from
ancient Ireland, about 2,000 years ago. His actual name was Cuchulain. He is considered the Achilles of Ireland. And Finn Mac Cool is another, but a hero with a poetic bent. Both fierce warriors long before Patrick brought the Church to Ireland. They are great names, aren't they?

32. Yes, they are wonderful names! I do believe that I've
encountered Finn Mac Cool in a book by Edward Rutherfurd. There's nothing like a little Irish history among the threads of DU!

33. Can't get enough of it!
My daughter is spending the next week at a local lake, participating in a Society of Creative Anachronisms event. All medieval, all the time. She looked great in her costume. I hope she has fun, and they hold workshops on different skills needed to survive in that time period. A bit later than the Hound and Finn.

34. This is too much! My daughter also belongs to the SCA!
I'm not sure just how active she is right now, since she's concentrating on her painting. But over the years, she's been to lots of events, gotten awards and had lots of fun at the same time. What a huge coincidence...

35. She's not a member, but,
I think she's fascinated by the theatre of it. She's an aspiring actress. She made a lot of her own costume, too. And her boyfriend grew up with it. His parents are vey involved and depend on RenFests and such for much of their income.

and her boyfriend, and his parents as well...My daughter tells me that a great many people take it very seriously and really go all out with the costumes, the jousting and so on...

38. Oh, yes they do.
I used to live across the street from a park where SCA members would go to practice all of their combat skills. Shannon was just a toddler then, but loved to watch them.

She'll be there for a week. Not at home, but close by. I already miss her. And just went up there Saturday night.

21. Prometheus Bentham Wellstone... but when I was a kid
I wished that my name had been "Ethan" as in Ethan Allen but than Ethan Hawke became a famous actor and more kids were being named Ethan, etc. so I no longer wish my name was Ethan. When I was in high school my favorite name was "Cleveland," I thought that that'd be a cool name but everyone said that it sounded black but that didn't matter to me none. I think now, if I could choose my own name, it's be Prometheus Bentham Wellstone, with Bentham in honor of the great 18th century British philosopher, Jeremy Bentham, who wrote "The question is not, 'Can they reason?' nor, 'Can they talk?' but rather, 'Can they suffer?'

If I was the child-raising business, I'd want a boy and a girl so I could name them Ohio and Florida respectively in remembrance of the electoral theft that occurred in 2004 and 2000 respectively.
