3. That was such a sad tragedy.
He was relatively young...on the verge of major stardom (he could have had a great career in films, television, the stage). He had a huge abundance of talent. And...to have it ended so capriciously.

Very, very sad.

4. *moment of silence*
Phil Hartman was a great actor.

I was watching my newly bought set of Newsradio and it reminded me just how great he was.

7. they still use recordings of him on SNL
He's the background announcer when Al Franken does his "Smalley" act. I thought that was a nice touch.

checking out the new location my company was moving to. It was a gorgeous day, but it dimmed considerably when I heard.

10. A friend of mine talked him into trying acting
back when he was still a graphic designer. I believe it was at South Coast Reperatory, where my friend was directing a play. This friend was a successful soap opera actress for many years, who later went into education. She remained friends with Phil forever, though I had left the LA area when Phil was murdered, and didn't see her reaction to the events. I never met Phil, but felt I knew him through her and another mutual friend.

He was extraordinarily talented.

13. He nailed the "likability" factor.
That McDonald's sketch is a pretty good example, too. If Bill Clinton showed up a half hour after they stopped serving breakfast, they'd MAKE HIM BREAKFAST.

Clinton seems to genuinely LIKE people, it SHOWS, and Phil GOT that. It's what set his Clinton apart from ALL of the rest.
